Anything Pizza

Cost. They take a significant annual loss on their hot dog/soda combo as well as their pizza but they always say they won't ditch them because it's part of the costco thing we've all come to love. The combo pizza cost more so they ditched that to help reduce loss while still giving us the pepperoni pie option.

 

Supper last night. Frozen Costco sausage pizza with some extra parmigiano reggiano.

 

I think that was the reason they dropped the Polish dog at the food court too.

 

The $4.99 Rotisserie chicken is another Costco great deal. I am sure they lose money on that too. I hope the keep that price.

 

The chickens are a loss leader. They know they're losing money on them but figure you'll buy something once you're in the door.

 

I just read an article stating that they will continue to sell these at $4.99

 

Yep. Just like @Fargo Taco said, it gets people in the door to buy more.

 

I sometimes do not get a cart when going into costco for a few items since it will end up with me grabbing more.

not my usual go-to but was worth a try with some Nashville hot chicken thrown on there

 

Did three pies tonight. One for the kiddos, pepperoni and olive. One vegan for the wife, onions, mushrooms, olives, and tomatoes. One for me, pepperoni, onions, olives, and mushrooms.

 

Tested a pizza dough recipe. Made into bread sticks

 

i like to add extra cheddar, pepper jack cheese before i put the pizza in the oven. sometimes i do banana peppers and bacon too. and i usually add parmesan and dash seasoning and some ranch or caesar dressing for dipping. the 3-pack margherita pizzas at Lidl are pretty good for customization.

some really good pizza places around here but they use olive oil in their pizza sauce and i'm highly allergic to olives, unfortunately.

i use a wisco 421 oven. great investment especially if you don't have a real kitchen to work with. i use it as a regular oven too if it's something thin that can fit in there;.

All look great! What was used in place of cheese for the vegan one?

 

I like the Lidl pizzas too, really tasty for the money

 

Miyokos cashew mozzarella. It doesn't melt like the vegan shredded but has better mouth feel according to my wife.
