Iphone 11 and Car Play poor phone call quality

Hi,
I purchased a 2020 TRD sport manual. I have an Iphone 11. When I make a bluetooth call unplugged from the charger my hands free call quality is great! Unfortunately when I plug the genuine apple usb cord into the phone and use Apple Car Play to make a call the sound quality is poor for the other person. Ive done experiments with the cord unplugged through blue tooth and plugged in through car play and there is definitely a huge difference in the call quality. Ive tried several genuine Apple cords and no difference.

I have a few questions for the experts:
Does anybody know if this is a know issue for the iphone 11? If I get a 10 or 12 does it fix the issue?
Does anybody know a way to make the car play hand free call sound as good as the toyota bluetooth hands free?

I have an iPhone 11 and don't notice any issues with either using Apple Car Play or just using bluetooth. I use an Anker cable when plugged into the USB, fyi.

 

for me sound is much better when plugged in (as you would expect), but i have an iphone x.

 

8+ and have not had any complaints?

 

has there been any updates regarding this? i have the same issue with my 2022 trd off road. it works great on bluetooth and sounds terrible for the person on the other end when i am hard wired. i have tried different wires and also recently upgraded my iphone so i doubt it is both phones with issues

 

Have you used the Toyota etune or Toyota connect app to update the firmware on the head unit? Toyota has a lot of service bulletins out for complaints about their shitty radio head unit programming and they basically sum it up as update all software before troubleshooting any further

i updated the headunit software through the update tool thats on the headunit the day i picked it up. the software version is 1785 on it so i am up to date with that bulletin. im not sure what else to do but go to different dealerships to try and resolve this.

I make a good bit of calls on the road and it is very infuriating that a brand new truck i spent a good bit of cash on sounds this bad for the people on the other end.

 

did you ever end up resolving your issue? I’m having the same problem
