Yep they do, designers don't care about utility or installation costs.

Perspective home buyers don't think about those things until the new wears off, they start noticing their utility bills and realize it takes (wastes) 40 seconds of water to get hot water.

Keep in mind too that all the water you dumped down the drain waiting for the hot is replaced in the pipe by water you paid to heat - just so it can sit there and get cold again.

What do they care about then? Our house is well designed in that my bathroom shares a wall with my parents' bathroom, and the powder room is next to the kitchen...

I put a water recirculation pump in when we lived in Az. The water heater was in garage and master bath was the furthest room away. Put the bypass valve in the master bath sink, and it worked great

Our house seems to be well-designed though, at least with regards to bathroom locations. The one thing I dislike about the house is the HVAC system. The house has two separate central A/C systems, one for the 1st floor and one for the 2nd floor. The builder cheaped out and used flex duct for the upstairs system. The gas furnace for the second floor is located in a closet of sorts up in the attic. The builder also gave no thought to how hard it would be to replace the furnace when that one breaks, because it is going to be hard to get the old one out of the attic and get the new one into the attic. Anyway, my room gets really hot in the winter because the furnace is located directly above my room, and I keep my window open through the winter to keep my room comfortable. In the summer, before I acquired a free portable A/C unit from my friend Patrick, I would have to keep the thermostat at 65-67 degrees to keep room comfortable. Luckily, my parents like it cold too and have no problem paying the increased electric bill that comes with prolific A/C use.

Lots of folks in that situation do that, it works good but is an extra cost and complexity.

I'm fortunate here, the water heater is between the kitchen and bathroom, hot water is only a few seconds from either one.

I'd say the water heater in my house is also well-located, and it's also like 75 or 80 gallons.

These Patton fans are well designed, all metal and the motor has oil ports.
They were marketed as "industrial" fans, the one I bought new was around $70 about 25 years ago.

    Nope, zero.
Depends on the frequency. When I was hourly I remember things being pretty flexible. Once again, I really don’t operate in the store arena anymore, my team of sales reps is all salary, not hourly, and we adjust our schedules according to customer needs.

2 stories, 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, and about 3,000 square feet. This house needs it...

It's a southern thing, it's a "Walmart-sized gas station", their Jerky (they have plenty of different options) and brisket is :censored: amazing, cleanest restrooms I've seen at a gas station/truck stop as well. If I'm not mistaken the one I go in Texas is the biggest gas station in the world, 100 or so fuel pumps iirc.

I rode past a Bucee's in TN back in June that was getting ready to open soon. 100 gas pumps! Signs for it advertising it over 150 miles out from the actual location.
