I got my first OTT Tune in May 2021...this is my 3rd visit with Allan.

Went from Med/Mild to Lite/Mild and I am HAPPY!

 

won’t be able to make any meet this weekend, putting on new headlights and taillights!

 

This weekend...is the new month!

We had an HOA Yard Sale last weekend and made $212...we got rid of 2 hutches and an electric stove/oven and lots of wife's clothes and nick-knacks.

oh did I mention the new shoes too? Figured before the winter comes i’d change the tires, but since i plan on upgrading the wheels anyways, why not both?! should be an update in just over a week with all three upgrades!

Newark here. I've had the 2021 TRD Sport for just over a year now.


No major mods planned. I've swapped out the shift knob for one I made on my lathe (if any of you automatic guys/gals are interested I've got ~7 made that I have for sale).

I'm partial to an Automatic Sport Short-Bed...I've got one myself!

Bought my Midnight Black Sport in Easton, MD...on a recommendation from a friend who had good experiences at that dealership.

You should post pics of the shift-knob...I bought the TRD leather one and love it!

That's a very cool hobby you got there!

I haven't done any woodworking projects since Jr High, 7th & 8th grade! lol

 

There’s a lot to go over so I’ll make two separate posts here about the mod updates so here it is!

 

I installed both new headlights (alpharex trd pro style projector headlights) and tail lights (alpharex LUXX-series sequential taillights). The taillights were quite literally plug and play, two bolts, yank out, plugs, and repeat for install. The headlights however, were much more difficult (more-so tedious, i’m an aircraft mechanic so it’s not the hardest thing i’ve ever done, but just very annoying). Toyota does not make it easy to change headlights. In my adventure of taking off the bottom bumper to pull out to expose a bolt, i accidentally broke off two clips for my fender, but eh, it doesn’t really matter because it’s held in elsewhere and a bolt too, just something to be careful about. the wires that came with it sort of confused me, but i found out the confusing wires were just for the ‘light dancing’ on unlock, they do it for engine start regardless, so i opted out of the unlock dance for now, no big worries. other than that after putting them in buttoning up the truck was a breeze. the taillights took no longer than 10-15 min, the headlights with help took about 2-3 hours. the aiming of the headlights is still something (after adjusting already) i still want to tweak. overall, extremely happy, and highly recommend. any questions lmk!

forgot to mention but i also put in an interior LED kit, and let me tell you… GAME changer.. todays the day for the tires! i had to remove the air dam and might have to trim for them, however.

I like the interior LEDs--they are a soft bright light.

The air dam is gone off my Sport since I installed the TRD skid.

What are you trimming?

 

i planned on doing it anyways for the trd skid plate anyways, so i’m not upset that i had to for the tires. they’re 275/70/17’s and they rubbed on the dam even on the lift, and there’s a spot on the back side of the wheel well where at full turn if there’s ANY bumps on the pavement, it rubs and you can really hear it

 

here’s the new wheels/tire setup. i went with 4runner trd wheels (they’re 17”), and falken wildpeak at3w’s 275/70/17. i was hesitant on the wildpeaks at first because online they seem fairly mild on the tread and sidewall but in person they’re perfect. there’s some rubbing but i’ll have that trimmed out no problem
