Have you guys up north been to Proper Meat and Provisions?

 

Hey, it's always an adventure trying out gas station sushi! It can be good, but it can definitely go sideways in a hurry

Oh that looks amazing - have purchased from some of the partners listed on their website. Our go to for beef has been Date Creek Ranch in Wickenburg or Sun Prairie Beef in CO.

 

No. Havent been to Proper meat. Usually places on the Route66 strip are stupid packed on weekends when I may have a chance. So, I stay away.

 

Never liked it myself either. After the great kidney rebellion of 2020-2021 my doc said limited caffeine and/or alcohol.

Both hit me like a ton of bricks anyways so I figure I'll just cut em out of my life for the most part. It's great that they make non-alcoholic beer that isn't dogshit these days!

 

I gave up caffeine on March 20th of this year and its the best thing I have ever done. Less stress, less anxiety, less PVCs, generally feel better all the time, no groggy-ness in the morning, no desire or “need” to drink coffee before I can get to work or do anything else. Never going back, and I fucking love coffee. Good decaf is hard to come by but I feel so good its worth the effort. Wifey still drinks caffeinated and we literally have two coffee makers on the counter now.

Yes, they are a little slow with service at lunch but its sooooo worth it. Sandwiches are so fucking good. Their meat is also very good but pricey.

 

i recommend this place highly. The wife and I stop in there for a samich every time we are in Flag. Old school butcher shop and samich place with a great pulled pork and their Ruben is on point.

 

I wish I could give it up all together but I have ADHD and caffeine keeps me level. I’m working on getting on some meds soon so I don’t have to deal with the PVCs and random chest pains. The brain is fascinating

 

Highly recommend!
I live in Flagstaff and for me this place is definitely a treat to go to. Because...

• It is spendy
• Sandwiches are crazy delicious

One of Proper Meat's partners here in town is Diablo Burger.
They source their beef locally and their default for cooking them is medium rare... which given the lean nature of the grass-fed beef (that is locally ground) is the best way to enjoy it.
Just like Proper Meats: it's a spendy burger but it's crazy delicious!

If I'm not mistaken, you guys in Tucson have Diablo Burger down there too.

 

I wish there was one in the valley

 

If you are going the Adderall route I recommend the time release and skipping it on the weekends to avoid building up a tolerance

 

You guys have the attic ale house which has some pretty good burgers and beer

 

Can’t do adderall, makes me feel dead. Working with a psychiatrist to get the right meds. I was on meds throughout school until high school when I just stopped taking them…I’m 31 now and haven’t grown outta this shit lmao it’s just a little different now

 

I’ll have to take the wife there one night

I love coffee. I drink devil mountain. 1555mg of caffeine per cup. Makes meth feel like sugar.
