What if any problems did you have with the lift?

What was the best option to purchase for this lift height?

What other changes were not part of the lift?

Currently this is what I have on my truck.

Thanks in Advance for your thoughts.

5-6” means a drop bracket lift. This entails cutting out the cross member and is semi permanent. You don’t gain any real ground clearance although it gives lots of room for big tires.

It’s a lift I would NEVER do myself. But some people have them and like them.

No experience with that height, but all I'm going to say is that there's no such thing as a free lunch.

You can have a truck that looks good, or one that drives good. Up to you what your priority is.

    Good luck, have fun.

A lot of post padding in here. The only useful post was what Sharpish said, a lift that size requires cutting the cross member under the engine and thats permanent. So you have to consider that commitment and that will limit your resale ability. Some people wont touch it after that, others dont care.

That being said, everyone I have talked to that did the bigger lifts are happy with it. Done right they drive nice and function well. But they will bring out the hate in guys fearful of putting a wrench to their trucks.

Thoughts are personal. Mine are to ditch what you have and forget what you are thinking about.

If you have to lift, select quality products (and pay the tab) and methods that can be easily reversed should that day come for you or another owner.

I would get a quality kit , I think they cut part of your frame to make clearance for the drop brackets , save the drop off so in case you
Change your mind it can be welded back in and put back to stock. See if the installer would weld in some plates to close up the whole in the frame
to keep water and mud out and add some strength back in.

    1. Uhhh let’s see.
Besides a big barrel spacer, and fat block in the rear. The basic kit rides like arse with a ton of axle wrap. Other than that, it’s fine - no problems

    2. I went with Procomp. Fabtech’s design on the 3rd gens spindle creates a loss of turning radius

    3. Refer to number 1
From the very first day I removed all shocks that came with the kit. Full length Bilstein with an OME 888 coil up front, custom Alcan leaf pack in the rear, 5160s in the rear, hammer hangers/shackles etc.

This by all means was my choice. Not saying you have to do all that but it’s things I worked my way into over time once I figured out what worked and needed improvement. Completely depends on how you use your truck
