DRY: Alabama’s weather just won’t change too much through the weekend with sunny days and fair nights. Afternoon temperatures will reach the low 80s through Friday, but a cooler airmass arrives over the weekend with highs dropping into the mid 70s Saturday and Sunday. Sunday morning will be very cool with a low well down in the 40s for most places; some of the colder spots could reach the upper 30s over North Alabama.

NEXT WEEK: Dry conditions continue with highs in the 77-83 degree range most afternoons. Long range guidance suggests our next chance of rain around here will be sometime in the October 15-20 time frame; See the daily Weather Briefing video for maps, graphics, and more details.

Some notes on the dry conditions (based on data at Birmingham)…

*Today will be the 10th consecutive day with no measurable rain.
*Our last measurable rain was on September 25, but the amount was only 0.03″.
*We have gone without measurable rain on 24 of the last 25 days.
*The last day with over one tenth of an inch of rain came on September 4, when the total was 1.55″

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Another delightful evening for high school football games across the state Friday night; the sky will be clear with temperatures falling through the 60s.

Auburn travels to Athens Saturday to take on the Georgia bulldogs (2:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be sunny; about 77 degrees at kickoff, falling into the low 70s by the final whistle. UAB has a home game in downtown Birmingham Saturday at Protective Stadium against Middle Tennessee (also a 2:30p CT kickoff)… it will be sunny afternoon with temperatures falling from around 75 degrees at kickoff to near 70 by the final whistle.

Then, Saturday night Alabama hosts Texas A&M (7p CT kickoff) at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa; the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from 67 degrees at kickoff into the 50s by the fourth quarter. A perfect night for football.

TROPICS: Tropical Depression 12 formed yesterday in the eastern Atlantic, it a junk system that will likely dissipate later today far from land before reaching tropical storm strength.

Invest 91L is a tropical wave located just east of the Windward Islands…it continues to produce a large area of showers and thunderstorms. Satellite-derived wind data and radar images from Barbados indicate that this system does not yet have a well-defined circulation center. However, upper-level winds are forecast to become more conducive for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form over the next several days if the system remains over open waters while moving generally westward at about 15 mph through the Windward Islands and into the Caribbean Sea. An Air Force reconnaissance mission is scheduled to investigate the system this morning, if necessary.

Most likely this system is headed for Central America in 5 days or so; long range global model guidance suggests the remnants then will likely emerge into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Still too early to know the final destination or intensity.

ON THIS DATE IN 1972: Tropical Storm Joanne, earlier a hurricane, moved across the Baja California peninsula and came ashore in western Mexico south of Ajo. The storm brought heavy rain and flooding to much of Arizona. This storm is the first documented tropical storm to reach Arizona, with its cyclonic circulation intact. Over 5 inches of rain was reported on the Mogollon rim southeast of Flagstaff.

Alright fellas who wants to do a Moab/ Colorado trip in May of next year? Im thinking Leaving after work on Friday May19th and pulling into driveway home on SUN May28 or possibly taking one more day and pulling in Mon May 29th which is memorial day so you would be off that day anyways. Friday the 19th travel to Memphis from Bham (4h) . Then Memphis to Albuquerque (14h) Sat 20, then to moab from there (6h) sun21. Hang out in Moab from Sun-Mid day Wed (21st-24th) then head to Telluride CO about 2:30 hour trip from moab. Spend 24th-27th in CO then head out mid day on 27th (sat). Head home with return on 28th or 29th depending on how much you want to drive in one day lol. Ill probably haul ass so i can have one day to recover before going back to work. Anyways let me know if it interests any of you. Ill probably go anyway since ive been trying to go forever.

Medical is just about forever in the state of Alabama. It's hard to close one's medical. Without knowing your situation, don't agree to a limited time period to keep medical open. I deal with WC every day at work with our own injured employees, sometimes meet with lawyers with my plant manager, to settle Indemnity and keep medical open.

I would highly suggest more days in Moab if possible. I assume you're doing the offroad trail from Moab to Telluride?
@WarFab Armor and @CGoss can give you some great info about UT/CO wheeling. I think Mike's shop is in Montross, which isn't too far from Telluride. It's been years, but we flew into Montross and drove to Telluride. Ralph Lauren's ranch was MASSIVE.

Its a running schedule so i really don't know how long ill stay where but im really more interested in some of the the over landing trails in CO more so than wheeling in Moab on a trip like this. Just due to not wanting to have a massive failure this far from home without a trailer lol. Plus wife will be with and she couldn't handle some of this things in Moab. I think 3 days roughly would be enough to do the trails i want to do and do the hiking trails i want to do as well. Obviously there's an endless amount to see there but i have very specific things i want to do. Plus the terrain of CO appeal more to me.

You definitely have to do TOTW. That was a "must" for me, it was by far my favorite. Hell's Revenge was another great one too. The best camping was at Chicken Corner in the old corral.

If my truck made it, you'll have no problems.........as long as you don't go full send

I'm still wheelin' and dealin' in 2A stuff. I think I'm close to being squared away on all of it though.
