It's a bit too stiff for me, I didn't think I was going to take my truck off-road too much when I was picking suspension (I ended up going out almost every weekend), and I thought the RC kit would be good enough but It felt a bit cheap when I put it on. I feel like the off-road performance is a bit limited when It comes to high-speed stuff as well as soaking up bumps in the road, it feels planted on the road because it's so stiff but Its speed doesn't soften up bumps like I was hoping.

When I bought the kit I had 3.5" of lift and now that the suspension has settled down to around 3.1" (Which is fine because 3.5" was a bit too tall for my liking). I'm sure there are people who are fully satisfied with that kit but it's just not for me.

Are you looking at buying an RC kit?

You can run 255/80/17 or 255/85/16 which are 33x10 on stock suspension.

Regarding a lift, I wouldn’t do more than 2”. I’ve got an OME nitro charger shocks, 2887 coils, and dobinsons leafs. Truck drives great!

Plenty of threads that answer your questions to include an entire section of the forum dedicated to suspension. Check it out.

Coming from a 2012 with Fox's and putting in the RC 3.5 Lift I can tell you it is stiffer than the Fox's.
Which is better for me cause I prefer stiffer on the road compared to the mushy stock Bilsteins. I also
pull a boat so I need the stiffer ride. Fox's were soft as butter. Too soft for some. I think the RC lift is
fine off roading at the right speeds. I don't think there is a perfect suspension lift. For the $1200 I spent
on the Rough Country if I am unhappy down the road I can switch. But right now I don't see that happening. :burnrubber:

Yeah spending anywhere from 1500-2250 is kinda where my budget is at, so I’ll definitely look into those lifts!! Thanks man

I fully agree wit this. My coil overs were adjusted when I changed my springs and its sitting at 3” and th bump steer is ridiculous. Rides like shit and rode much better at 2.5” lift in front. I cannot adjust the coil over myself and can’t wait to get it back to the right height.

Second on that agreement, 3" looks cool but it's a rough ride for sure.

The guy I'm planning to buy my new set up from said that almost all suspension performance is lost when you lift over 2.5". My 3" lift still doesn't clear my 285's but that's because my wheel has a -12 offset, hopefully, some SPC's and light massaging can stop the rubbing.

Just account for all the small things when you eventually pick your setup.

You think it would be ok if I have a front winch?

Doubtful, I’m not sure if I’d recommend it since I’m not sure what the spring rate is but I’d recommend one of the lifts I mentioned earlier.
What budget do you have for a lift?

I don't really have one yet. I'm thinking about the 5100 with heavy duty springs, as I'm adding a winch mount and winch. Do the 5100's get the lift just from preloading the springs? Or are they a longer shock body?

I’m not confident but I thought the struts were longer but it might be a mix of both?
I’d got that route rather than an RC kit, I’d definitely layout a budget first though.

The Bilstein 5100 shock absorbers have a finite preload adjustment and that is how ride height is modified.

So they are the same length of Stock OR struts? If so, could I just add the heavy spring to the stock Struts?

I believe the fact that you can raise/lower the spring perch is what gives the lift.

So it’s just preloading the spring.

They might also be longer below the perch to provide lift but you can definitely preload the spring with them.

You don't need a lift to run 33". You just need the correct tire/wheel combo.
