House of the Dragon

I mean I am already invested in the story but is their endgame to make us hate all characters? All I want to see is the king slap his wife or something. I think the only ones I am rooting for at this point are Rhaenyras and Daemons kids.

 

I don't think there is supposed to be any redeeming characters. This isn't a happy story. All hell is about to break loose as soon as Viserys croaks.

 

I think Viserys is pretty likable. He just wants to do King shit and have everyone get along. Virtually every scene you can see him developing another ulcer

every time jump I expect he's gonna be dead but it's like he just refuses to die, once he does shit is going to jump off though.

Might just mostly be because Paddy Considine (the actor that plays him) is a likable guy

I haven't read the book so I'm guessing.

My guess is whoever has the bigger army/ships & most dragons...did I just answer my own question?

 

Please be kind, I need to like HOD. The over hyped show the with a 80 million per episode budget, the one with elves and neolithic hobbits, is loosing me fast.

 

I haven't read the books either but I admit I see a lot of spoilers from book readers online, so I have some idea what's going to happen. Won't spoil anything though.

With all the tension and hate brewing between Rhaenyra and Alicent and their kids, it's going to be a bloodfest that's for sure. And now Alicent has the biggest dragon in the realm in Vhagar at her behest since her son Aemond has claimed her.

They keep building the tension up with each time jump, bound to happen soon unless Viserys keeps holding on to life by the threads like he has been

 

You can’t be serious. Truly, they both suck, but Rings is beyond the pale.

 

I don't think the show sucks, I'm into it. It's not as gripping as GoT was early on, but GoT focused on pretty much all of Westeros and beyond with numerous characters spread all over the world. HotD's narrative is way more centralized and focused on particular events in a certain place/time.

I am looking forward to when the tensions start to break though, mostly for the dragon fights. I hope

I tried watching the first couple episodes of RoP but just couldn't get into it, will probably try again later on someday. I was never that big of a LOTR fan

It's been surprising to see characters change since the show started. I'm in for watching it...and have enjoyed it so far.

 

I'm a little confused why they changed actresses for Alicent and Rhanyrea. They were all adult actors even if they were portraying teenagers in the beginning, probably could have just aged them 10 years with makeup/dress like they did the others. I think they cast Alicent's older self really well but the actress playing Rhaenyra doesn't look much like the Rhaenyra from the first few episodes at all.

 

I wonder if they read the same scripts for their later years and decided on the new actors...just a thought.

What's happening now seems a bit more intense.

Can you see their younger selves acting out in the same way as their new actors?

 

You guys keep imagining some kind of rivalry between LOTR and HOTD and I'm over here just thinking both suck almost as much as their fan bases.

Because I’ve been a fan of fantasy since about 1979. I’m one of those guys who’s read all the books. It’s gotten hard to find anything worthwhile at this point, but I keep trying. GOT and LOTR aren’t being written (F you rr martin), so I get what I can in the hope of finding anything close to past brilliance. What I find these days are one-dimensional caricatures following the current political vent versus deep characterizations struggling with what is called the universal human condition.

 

Because it's as important to me to state my opinion of the shit quality of a show as it is for y'all to circle jerk fanboy about it.
