Hello, I am currently debating between the Off road vs Trail edition. MSRP for 3 TE’s in my area is around 44.2k- 44.9k. The off roads in my area vary in price and I’m not sure if I really need the adv tech package they come with considering If I’m being honest with my self I would only take out my future tacoma rarely to the trails. I want a 4x4 option and a locker. I like the idea of the TE already having a lift with a warranty and I like the Toyota heritage grill, it make me feel more comfortable that I wouldn’t have to mess with the TSS if I got the off road and wanted to upgrade the girll but I know plenty of people do it when I installing the heritage grill. I’m not a big fan off the bronze rims but I have yet to see the combination with lunar rock in person. Ideally I would change them to the black TRD pro rims. I know a lot of people say the TE edition is just a appearance package but I feel like it’s not a bad deal. Just wanted some opinions on the matter.

    Sounds like a 2wd SR5 would suffice.

Honestly if they had the SR5 in lunar rock I would just get that… I really like the lunar rock color.

To me the best part of TE is the rims. So if you don't like them just get the OR.

If they guess under 5 they need to be booted from TW.

Over 5, but not not by much. There are already several threads on the subject.

I still think the Trail trim is the worst PT Barnum sucker-buy of all trims. Scratch that, it's the worst possible offering of any Toyota vehicle, in the history of all Toyota vehicles.

Over a 10 grand markup for a cheap leveling kit, bronze wheels, and a less than useless bed box.

Even the Sport is better equipped than that, for 5 grand less.

If you want a lift with a Toyota warranty then get the optional Toyota lift. 2" front and 1" rear which is more lift than the trail edition gets. Any dealership can also throw on any Toyota wheels you want before you take delivery for a price. That just leaves your issue of the grill and the prices. Those are up to you to figure out which one is right for you.

Trd lift comes with a heritage grill
Dealers would be happy to slap that shit on. The Bronze te rims are an easy sell at more than are worth.

For the price of a limited and just a hair under a Pro, you are getting an SR5 with a grille, wheels, and an igloo cooler bolted to the bed.

In my humble opinion, it's that bad.

The OR at least comes with hardware to justify the price hike.

Fog lights. I believe they are not an option on the TE and not on the stalk. But come with OR. Don’t know about If it’s pre wired or not.

Two questions for someone that really wont be doing any off roading maybe at most 3x a year if that. what are your thoughts on the TRD premium off road package (leather seats) and the adv tech package on a off road.

are the leather seats nice or leather seat covers do just fine?
I live in FL and currently just have cloth seats.

How exactly does that work? Would I just purchase it thru a Toyota dealership or?

I opted away from the premium package. I didn’t want a sunroof, nor did I care about leather. Don’t need heated seats either. But I ended up getting some clazzios for seat covers in full pvc to mitigate spills and cleaning. Three kids can be hell on an interior of a vehicle.

    Oh look, another mod....

Now you're talking MY language. I have the TRD OR with all the bells n whistles. Leather, MTS, Surround View, BSM, Sunroof. I have shit on my truck that I haven't even used yet! I off-road it 3 times a year, sometimes a bit more. But nothing heavy. No hard wheelin' or muddin'.....yet. Never say never, am I right? The best part of the Advanced Tech package is the front facing camera and side mirror cameras.

The resolution isn't great, but you don't need a spotter if you're out wheelin'. Just turn on MTS and it activates it for you.

They aren't real leather, they're some kind of faux leather. Toyota says they are meant to perform better than real leather. I do like them, and it's hard to find heated seats without that as an option. In the Jan-Feb months in Texas....I need them.
