Why dump the truck if it's fixed? Hacking in inferior electronics to the next vehicle will cause issues again. Makes no sense.

Well its clearly not fixed. It certainly could be the aftermarket parts but you don't know that for sure. Electrical problems are hard to track down and not something I'd want to deal with.

Took a while to get stereo-guys down to the dealership, but they are there now and called me with what they found.
Stereo NOT the culprit, he says it's a faulty auto-lights circuit. Service manager insisting they remove the remote start unit, which they are as I type, but that wasn't the cause either...but he's being hardnosed about it, so to placate him it's coming out till I get the truck back.
Funny thing is, is that I was making an appointment for the 20,000-mile service and was mentioning to the service writer that my kid had borrowed my truck and said that the directionals were acting strange, they didn't sequence and were blinking stupid-fast. I said that I found the auto-lights on, never use the things myself, and once I shut it off the directionals worked as they should...this being about a week before the big problem presented itself.
Further update as this plays out.

Auto lights are needless and stupid. Pull that whole system out and just leave the high beams on! :stirthepot:

If I was over there it would be KC lights only.

I recommend upgrade to the dachshund package. Very effective. Only tested on Jeep TJ so far, but assume it would also work well on a Tacoma

My friend had a compustar alarm in his car when we were in highschool and it fried his whole car. We were driving on the highway and it just shut down and the whole wiring harness had to be replaced and he just went without an alarm after that. I'm not saying this is your problem, but I'm saying those alarms CAN be a huge problem. I personally would not be running an aftermarket alarm if I were you.

I am trying to think of the last time myself or anyone around me paid any attention to a car alarm going off.

I wonder how often the auto lights circuit fails on unmodified vehicles.

You notice it - but will you do anything about it? Stop the crime at risk to life and limb?

Would be a dumb move to break into a vehicle in this neighborhood. Use your imagination.

    Well well well.
A copy and paste of the email I just got.

    Don,

I am Happy to inform you that your vehicle is all set and ready for pickup. The end result was that the remote starter system that had been installed (or its installation) had caused a short in the harness. We were able to do a wire overlay to make the vehicles lights operate as designed.

Canobie lake Toyota is taking care of a good portion of the expenses (We have 6 HRS into it. We are asking for you to take care of 2 HRS witch is 299.99. )

    Thank you ,
