My 2017 has about 55K. My dealer wants to replace the body mount bolts. Is this the right time? I haven't noticed any door or bed alignment issues.

    Thanks

If this is on thier dime, then why not! If you pay then they need to show exactly why they need to be replaced. My 2017 has 74,000kms and there is no issue with body mount bolts or bushings that I have seen when I go underneath it.

Reason? They said it was "due" and cost $1,000.

I would have to agree why do it if there isn't anything wrong.

Ask them to show you the literature from Toyota that states this. And then laugh at them when they say that they can't.

The body mount bushings can go with age (though 5yr / 55K is usually too early for that). At the time of bushing replacement, it may be appropriate to replace the bolt if it's too rusted.

Do you drive a lot on winter salty roads or through salt water (for launching boats)?

You guys are awesome - thanks!

Not many salty winter roads here in Jersey lately, no boat launching. If I do drive on the beach I always powerwash the underside after.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Bolt stretch. Completely normal on 3rd gens.

^Not for body mount bolts, since they're clamping rubber bushings or plastic bed spacers.

Ask for clarification, are they speaking of "Time" as in a prescribed service interval?

If so, never darken the door of that dealership again. Seriously.

They could be bad, but I’d ask to look at them with them. Sounds like some service writer had a bad September.

If it’s their dime I guess why not. I would look for any safety bulletins that would point to this. Hey, they replaced thousands of frames on the previous generation (2)

Have what they think is the worst one replaced and decide from there.
