Seems like it might be the right bumper sensor. Took off plastic panels and this one looks like it has some evidence of corrosion inside the sensor housing and a gouge to the connector. I unplugged it and replaced the fuse and everything works again.
I wrapped the wire casing in permanent sealant tape and wrapped the exposed wires to the harness in electrical tape (well). I’m hoping water was getting into the wiring and causing an issue? I’ll see if this fixes it. If it doesn’t then I might just disconnect and plastic seal the ends or take it to Toyota for them to open the housing and take a look. I can’t open the housing. The nuts are corroded/rusted. D5518C22-1EB1-47FA-BD7A-C29B0739287B.jpg 2B7376AB-D5CE-42F7-90AC-A02A90D24C5F.jpg

That sensor is a remove & replace deal, no repairs for it. Beaucoup dollars for replacement and "adjustment".

I have experienced the same problem on my 2016 Tacoma. I kept blowing the 10A fuse and tried replacing the ambient temperature sensor. That didn’t work and I read the post about the wiring in the rear end. I have a canopy and my dog had chewed the wires off. The wires had been like that for years. I found one was pinched in my tailgate. Once I cleaned up the wires my heater and outside temperature came back on.

I can’t remember if I posted a resolution to this saga but that is exactly what fixed mine as well. I just wrapped the wires and insulated them better so they can no longer get wet and it has now been 10 months I believe with no issues!

Had this same issue pop up for me last night! Tacomaworld to the rescue as always! I left my BSM plug hanging after I was doing some testing and it got some mud in it that was shorting the circuit even though it's powered off. Cleaned it up and wrapped it with electrical tape and we're good to go.

    I love this forum.

    Thanks Everyone on this thread,
I had the exact same problem & did not have time to sort the issue out myself so I had to take my truck into the local Toyota. I turned up & told them exactly what the issue was and how they should go about fixing it.
All up they only charged me CAD$100 (the lady @ the desk told my wife when she picked it up that if we had not of given instructions it would have been upwards of $500 due to having to diagnose).
    You guys are champions

I just replaced this on my 2019 Tacoma Offroad with this AMAZON LINK, https://a.co/d/iNAhxkr
The bad relay would switch, however the resistance was >x10 than the new one. New relay is probably has a different Denso part number but they are an exact fit. Also you get 2 for ~$20...
