    I always have steel too, I mean your cmc can't require more than 10" x 6" I don't think

    Got plenty of 1/8" 1/4" and 3/16" depending how thick it's supposed to be

    @Abeyancer

    So far, I'm $26 and some elbow grease all in for this bandsaw and she's cutting nice and smooth!

    20221005_143530.jpg

    Only 4 things to work on;

    1. I now have a consistent tapping with the motor running. I don't recall this noise when I first turned it on so I think it may have to do with it's positioning or the pulley setup. The motor "holds" in the same way my friends HF drill press does - you turn it on and though you hear power going to the motor, it needs manual assisted help for that first turn

    20221005_144943.jpg

    2. The guide/arm sits kind of cock-eyed so I need to drill and tap it and add some sort of "set screws" that will add an angle/offset and allow the blade to cut square with any media

    20221005_144929.jpg

    3. The legs are made up of folded sheet metal that form a "boxed stand". Bolts are missing so if you push it, it will fall in on itself. I don't know if I want to make a table top using the rest of my 1/4" steel plate for it

    20221005_144909.jpg

    4. The handle for the "vise" needs a sort of handle attached or welded on, or flat out replaced so I don't have to turn this tiny wheel by hand

    Lol. Got them down to $4700 and they wouldn’t go any lower.

    fun fact, that’s the value of a perfect condition one on kbb.

    oh well, it would have been an interesting one.

    Meanwhile, pulled off the self-adhesive "frost" I put in the bathroom window.

    20221005_153628.jpg

    10 min blind install and it's looking way better though. Didn't expect the vinyl to start peeling after 2-3 months

    I wonder if that motor needs a new starting capacitor.

    Yeah, I mean the whole setup is over 17 years old and age does a number on such things for sure.

    I just want absolutely minimal investment in this thing. If I exceed $50 all in, I'll simply sell it for as much and just buy a new one.

    It runs, it cuts, but one needs to consider that the motor is old and replacing it will run about $175-200. At another $100 or so I could just buy a whole new unit.

    Aside from the 'tension' handle being a pain in the ass to loosen up and lube, it's nice and works as it should now.

    Pop off the cylindricalish cover on the side and see what’s inside. Capacitors are usually pretty cheap, might be a very easy fix.

    Last time I bought any small parts like capacitors or resistors I used MIT Multicaps and Holco resistors; high-end stuff for a tube pre-amp I upgraded.

    You could spend a good $500+ on just a bunch of said parts but oh boy does it bring new life to a component.

    Here's a before. I had replaced the speaker outputs and RCA inputs with some Partsexpress parts as well as adding some Dayton caps -
