I agree with everybody else, keep it don't sell it!
Or if you really have to sell it for some unknown , personal reason, sell it like guys that sell Harley's, they ask a super high outragious price saying they love their Harley sooo much it would take that high amount of money for them to part with it.
Remember, everything is for sale for the right price!
Ask $24,500 for it and if someone offers you $20,000, take it!

Price it at KBB. It's a beautiful truck, but mods don't add any value. They either drive away potential buyers afraid of the mods, or they entice those who appreciate the mods. There's far more of the former than the latter. EVERYONE here loves your truck (including myself!) which is great if you intend on advertising it here, but if you advertise it on autotrader or CL, most buyers don't want mods. If possible, remove the suspension lift and put the original wheels back on it, then sell the tires/wheels and lift.

    Yeah.

That's a nice looking truck, too bad you gotta sell. Maybe next time you could get 4x4.:p

    Just playin...

Anyway, someone said $20,000, you're never gonna get that much. I'd start it at around $12,000 personally.

Mods don't add any value, even among TW members. Don't believe me? Look for the threads that say: "Should I buy this lifted truck?" The replies *always* come back: NAH! -- Buy it stock and lift it yourself!

It's pretty hard to remove a drop bracket lift and return to stock.

Also, folks attracted to this type of truck often don't have a lot of ready cash. Sometimes a dealer will by a nice truck like this at a discount at auction and poise it out in front with a pretty price on it to drive traffic while waiting for someone to fall in love with it. But, they have two advantages you don't have: 1. they can play the waiting game and gain exposure and foot traffic while they're waiting and 2. they can offer that financing.

Whatever you take out in terms of stereo components, make sure you at least sell it with a working radio. Nobody wants to pay that much money for a beater with no radio. Also lack of a radio creates the impression (even if false) that you didn't take care of the truck and don't have attention to detail - those perceptions are fatal when you're selling a modded truck!

So, go to edmunds.com, claim it's in primo-top condition -- for that's the max benefit you'll get from your modifications - and price it out for private-party sale on their used car pricing tools.

And the obvious lesson to anyone else reading this thread is: don't throw your hard earned lira, zloty, sheckles, pesos, into modifications to a truck you may need to sell soon for ready cash. It's a sure way to take a bath.

    GLWS.

Nice truck. You can fix the "too big and loud" issue very easily by removing the lift/wheels/ and replacing muffler. I agree that you won't get what you spent on it with the mods, especially a non-practical 6 inch lift for daily driving. If you are set on selling it for something different, sell the mods on TW/CL and list the price accordingly to KBB or autotrader listings for your area. Mods will reduce the buying age demographics and potential buyers.Although you may just change your mind once the mods are off. But listing it for $20-24K like the previous post stated would be inaccurate and way overpriced. It being an '05 prerunner 4cyl 2WD, it's more in the low 12-13K range like PWhite13 stated.....GLWS.

13k is still WAY high. It's a first production year, regular cab, 2wd truck. KBB
EXCELLENT condition is $9350. You may find the right buyer and sell it at the top of the price range.

Like Wattapunk mentioned, fixing "too big and loud" is an easy fix, and I bet you could get it done and come away with a few hundred bucks extra (if you were still interested in keeping the Taco). Find someone else with a Prerunner and tell them they can have your lift & wheels/tires for $500, but they do the work to swap over. Then put on a new muffler and you'll have a stock Prerunner.

It's the tires that make it loud. I was just curious what you guys thought of a price for it selling it as is. I would never remove the lift and tires or return it back to stock. I put too much work into it for that

Agree with the pricing in the $8-9K range with it being Modded. That 6in lift,2WD, and 4cyl is going to scare away some buyers. You will already lose the older crowd and 'work truck' buyers with it modded. May sound like more cost but in the end, you will make more money returning it to stock.

Easier to sell the truck, plus you would have the lift & wheels/tires to sell.
Most everyone here can appreciate the lift, but we aren't your target audience when you sell it, the other 99% of people who don't want a modded truck are.

Let's not go too far beating the price down here.

Yes it's modded, but it's a nice looking machine and someone wants it - especially some kid who thinks it's cool and doesn't know a box wrench from a socket.

The top end of private party sales prices is a reasonable place to be - just recognize that buyers for a lifted truck are less frequent, so getting a good offer is going to take a little more time to come along.

While a stock truck can sell on the first weekend it's advertised, a nice rig like this one might take a month or so to find the right buyer. So don't be too quick to drop the price when you get the inevitable lowball offers. Keep the name and number, and tell 'em you'll call 'em back if it's still on the market in four weeks.
