Is this just for fun or what?

Like financially it doesn't seem worth it. So many newer better bikes can be had cheaper, or you can get one for like $2500 max.

Unless it's sentimental, then it just becomes this:

Stolen by his cousin or some shit right? I remember it vaguely. Still seems like a lot of work for something that can't ever see the street. If it can be registered and all that hard work pay off riding it to work or someplace maybe it feels worth it but for a dirt only toy? Meh. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that way.

I'm in the same boat with the CT90. No way I'll ever get back what I put into it, but it's the shits and giggles and keeping me out of trouble factor. I like to build, I like to tinker, and it was just a fun project. Cheap (ish) entertainment.

It's the bike I grew up riding. Was stolen and recovered as a basket case Couple years ago. It definitely won't be a overnite build but would love to see it back the way it was when I first got it at 15yrs old. So yes more sentimental.

That they do. I've had my garage broken into multiple times. It's detached from the house. This last time I had enough put a beefy lock on it. And put some camera up.

My advice for first time track day of those tracks would be-
    1. Buttonwillow
    2. Willowsprings small track
    3. Chuckwalla

Buttonwillow is a great track to learn on, enough kinks at the end of long straights to keep you out of trouble, and cost is a little less than a day at willowsprings

I've actually left this area twice. Lol always come back home. It's a love hate relationship with my town. But small town everyone knows everyone. I'll be sticking around for awhile.

I'm the opposite. I'm a huge Yamaha fan. I've had a number of Yams over the years; not a bit of trouble with any of them except for a broken speedo cable on my 1995 FZR1000. My Yams include: FZR600, YZF600, FZ750, FZ750, YF750, FZR1000, R6 (2 of them), R1 (3 of them), and currently on a FJR1300.

I know! Trying to weigh how much I enjoyed doing light off-roading vs. how often I realistically go to the track vs. how much I need new gear vs. real world responsibilities... :annoyed:

Having moved from a couple of Hondas to my current FZ1, I've been impressed with how much more detailed the owner's manual is and a few small things that just make more sense (to me anyway). Thought I'd hate the center stand but it's now one of my favorite features!

Center stand is a highly underrated thing to have. Makes chain maintenance much easier.
