Howdy yall, was needing to do Poly Motor mounts (stocks were broke/bottoming out) to match my poly tcase mount (have dual t-cases so have an old school tcase style mount back there) and was looking around at 3rd gen/3.5l options.

Didn't find much at all, and didn't need the stiffest mount out there. Just needed something that wasn't going to seperate and control the movement better. I thought about making some simple ones, but kinda on a little time crunch for upcoming trips.

Browsed around online for the stock rubber motor mount dimensions, and found that the 4.0l/3.5l dimensions are basically the same, with the differences being a slightly different interlocking/washer setup off of the stock rubber mount.

So giving that, I have been following a guy/fabricator on Instagram (https://instagram.com/martecengineering?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) and he sells these simple poly mounts for 2nd gens. So, kinda played test dummy to see if they work, and sure enough they bolt right in.

    Pic stolen from his website:

Swap is super straight forward, so I wont say much as it's just jacking the motor up slightly, weaseling the stock mounts out, and loosely bolting the new polys up and then tightening everything once both sides are in. No drilling or anything weird, and the new mounts go in way easier than the stock, big, donut shaped mount.

Another plus for these style mounts, it is super easy to raise the motor up (think I can jack mine 1" before it hits firewall), by just placing washers where the poly meets the engine side mount.
This comes in handy for the guys throwing the bigger Landcruiser/Tundra steering racks in, as those things are huge and there isnt as much room as the 2nd gens it looks like.

So, the end result for me is less motor movement/motor bouncing around, and a mount that won't pull the rubber out/bottom out like the stocks were.

As far as vibrations, I already had a poly tcase mount/poly body mounts in, so prior to these I already had some vibrations.
After these mounts, I dont think I noticed any new vibrations so I don't think they will put off hardly any on a stock truck.

Heres the link to Martecs website for the mounts, and they are a very reasonable price compaired to other mount setups out there.

I talked with him after confirming that his mounts worked on my 3.5l, and he said it was fine to make a post. I know he had some in stock the other day, but he runs a smaller shop so keep that in mind if these gain popularity. Also check out his instagram page, lots of straight axled Tacoma goodness going on!

*neither of us are responsible if these don't fit, as I am the first (afaik) to use these style mounts on the 3.5. Thats where you guys come in to confirm its not just my truck that they worked on.

How do you think these compare to the solid off-road mounts? How’s the long term review

They have been great, and less vibrations than the normal style poly mount.

I have Solid Off-road motor mounts, and I plan on switching to Martec. I had to replace my solid motor mount bushings after 8 months of daily driving and occasionally hard off-roading on my 3rd gen Tacoma. Martec seems to be very easy to service and still stronger than factory.
