At 1st I also missed my 3rd gen although I never missed the 3.5 Slackinson V6 and the Hyundai-quality automatic transmission. After doing a level, adding a nice NAV-ANDROID touchscreen with rear camera, same Kickers of my 3rd gen, adding Clazzios and Husky liners and adding 4runner wheels I nearly have my 2nd gen built with most things I missed about the 3rd gen. I still miss the "appearance" and the MPG of my 3rd gen. That is all that I miss. Mine was a 2016, and had quite a few warranty/recall issues. It does seem that 2019+ have been improved. I am much happier with the 4.0 and old style automatic transmission. Low end torque is much appreciated.

and to be an idiot, I forgot to say, that I have found after getting rid of most scratches, that using Adams Polish VRT really does a great job of bringing them back to life. About every 3-4 washes I will ‘carefully’ put the VRT on them and they look brand new. I could probably go 6+ months without doing it. I’m sure there are other products that can do a good job but the VRT has worked well for me so I’ve stuck with it.

I drove it home from the dealer. Such a small thing but it seems like a big deal to me after waiting so impatiently for it to arrive.

I'm going to swap the head unit out and then I'll consider an Amp. Slowly piecing it together.

The kickers make a real noticeable difference, it's best way to get rid of road noise

    Oh man…
That was my 14 I did in 15, so I can’t remember exactly what I used. It was a DIY bed liner kit, maybe herculiner? I removed everything in the interior (you wouldn’t believe how much dried salt is between the carpet and floor pans), lightly sanded everything, washed, rinsed and did 2 coats. Laid everything back down. Did it all in a weekend. These trucks are very easy to gut down to the metal. Highly, highly recommend for anyone in an area where they use salt.

I really feel like the kickers didn't make much of a difference but I haven't done the tweeters yet. Which makes me wish I had just done the tweeters and not the rest.

Did you make any adjustment to the Base and Treble once the Kickers were installed? Also. did you do any insulating of the door panels or door skins?

I love that Lunar Rock. Helping my daughter buy a new RAV4. Lunar Rock was mine, and her husbands, 1st choice but dealers are adding a fee for it because it is in such high demand. I told her not to pay extra for a color that is included in the price of XLE trim. Her 1st choice was magnetic gray which she can get 6+ weeks sooner than waiting for Lunar Rock anyway. Oh well I tried. Best part is I gave her a low mileage Buick LaCrosse when she graduated in May with her Masters Degree. Now I am "buying" it back to give her a good down payment. Naturally now I see Lunar Rocks everywhere I go.

Keep us posted once you swap out the head unit.

Completely agree the Kicker’s are the best way to reduce/eliminate road noise.

In my early 3rd gen, with entune Premium non-JBL, the 6 x Kickers made a big difference. By using mostly USB, or CD and some sat radio music, those Kickers made a huge difference. Not so much with any regular radio music. Now on my 2nd gen with the lame stock radio the Kickers made a somewhat noticeable difference however upgrading to an Atoto Android head unit brought the Kickers to life. It also brought the rear stock speakers to life that were barely heard with the stock head unit. One note is that, as I have read numerous times, the Kickers don't seem to add any real improvement to JBL systems. Not sure if that is due to the built in amp or an ohm compatibility issue.

I still feel like I hit the lottery. Almost everything Toyota is shipping to my area (CO) in Tacomas is Lunar Rock, and mostly the TRD OR. Both of which I wanted. I had a 'choice' of reserving/waiting for 3 identical vehicles - only option was floor mats (I really wanted the tech package and LEDs, but they haven't had those in many months). Dealer sold it to me w/ no required add-ons and no extra fees. If you are near CO, I highly recommend Mountain States Toyota.

Unfortunately we are in the southeast region and RAV4's are the new unicorns. Non-hybrid fwd Lunar Rock RAV4 XLE's are the 3 legged spotted unicorns. Dealers are getting stocks of the Tacoma but not the RAV4. To build a RAV4 is up to 318 days waiting period. Crazy times. Went through 8 dealers to avoid market adjusted prices. Allocations of 30-45 days are mostly reserved and picked over too. She, unlike me, doesn't have the time to travel to buy something. It is was my car I would fly for the right color and price.

I replaced my '08 4Runner with this Tacoma to 'create' a good used car for my son to buy. The other option was to hand down my wife's RAV and replace it w/ a RAV4 Prime and when I asked about that the salesman busted a gut laughing. No dealers here will even add you to a list for anything with a battery as hybrids seem to be the spotted unicorns with wings.
