    Its fine stock geared/with a tune if you dont have too much excess weight/drag.

    • A light truck
    • AND you're below about 6k ft :rofl:
    I get used to thinking my truck has power driving around at sea level then I take a trip to Colorado and it's a dog lol.

    With my truck coming out of Tahoe (around 6k ft?) fully loaded, the motor had more than enough power to speed/scream up the big passes, but the only thing that was holding it back was tranny temps.

    yeah I went through Tahoe and Jackson hole without noticeable power loss. Do 3rd gens read trans temp? Or did you put something aftermarket in?

    It was like 70 degrees out and I was going above speed limit, and got the pan up to 220/convertor up to 230ish, dont really like to go above that. Stock gears/35s/bed stuffed to the brim with camping/wheeling stuff.

    Stock the 3rd gen trannys run at 190-200 degrees, so its not insanely horrible.
    Have a huge cooler with a fan, and trans tstat pinned so normal driving its about 90 degrees over ambient temp with 37s/stock gears/weight

    Was going up to the rubicon from Tahoe, so the fun windy pass. The 3.5 screams once you're up in the rpms, but yeah tranny is the hold back at that point. My poor buddies in their Lc's were snailing up doing 30mph most of the pass wide open, while I was playing Pikes Peak racecar haha.

    Ott did have some good trq and shifts . I miss top end power which kdmax definitely gave that top end power . Currently kdmax is running trials on a new manifold riser. Supposed to gives us more lowerend trq and better mpgs . If all works out I'll be purchasing that riser .
