New to long travel as of 3 day. The 2006 camewith total chaos LT . There is a torn boot on the cv axel . I’m going to replace it. I don’t know what to buy. I herd tundra axels? If so what year ? My fist dumb Lt question thanks for any help.

Tundra axles only work for first gen Tacoma long travel. You can buy an oem replacement boot kit and rebuild the axle. I believe @EatSleepTacos posted the part number on the previous page

I feel like that’s a different way of achieving the same goal: don’t put on so much preload that you’re hitting block height. Is that what you’re saying?

I'm not following. You asked what I meant by "maxed out" so I provided some details as there is no clear black & white answer. I didn't say "you're under sprung" without any elaboration because I simply don't feel like that's a productive conversation. Figured you'd appreciate the info so you can come to your own conclusion.

What's the alternative? Preload is one variable used to achieve a desired ride height. The other variable would be spring rate (assuming we're leaving the vehicle weight consistent). If you want to retain your current ride height with less preload you'd need to go up in spring rate.

I just mean I feel like we're talking about the same thing in different ways so I'm trying to clarify. When you say "maxed out" you mean the max amount of preload without getting into block height?

My reply was just to continue the conversation that I wouldn't consider me being near max because I still have about an inch before block height when the upper uniball is maxed out. It's because at maxed out upper uniball, I still have like 1 3/8" shaft remaining, or something along those lines.

I'll be honest, I was also half paying attention when I replied above which is why it doesn't make much sense.

Yes to the bold. I guess I was trying to drive the fact that the equation changes based on the setup so it's like tying to hit a moving target. I personally like to be able to look at the numbers to create my own conclusion. You can run the lighter spring because of your setup. Others may not be able to without running into coil bind issues.

I’m tracking now. I knew the concept of block height because I had to be aware of it while cycling my suspension and I know I’m good, but it’s nice that there’s an actual formula for it.

If you want to buy an extra LT axle, CVJ sells compete axles that should work for you.

FWIW on the LT CV boot thing. My 930 outer boots are holding up fantastically in comparison to the OE style outer. Worth checking out. If its the inner blown you can get silicone boots as well.

I highly recommend these, especially if you plan to spend a lot of time in inclement weather. They should hold up well

not sure but pretty sure that won’t clear lower coil seat on a second gen but it would work on a 2wd pre runner for sure

As long as you stay in 2wd they will work even on a 4wd taco… I know for a fact.

No point in keeping the tail light area since it just gets smashed so that got chopped off. Removing some weight and prepping for the sway bar install.

Can I have your camper shell for my wittle bed? I’ll have to cut a little out of the middle and glue it back together though.
