I would but it would be an auto rubicon.
Would sent it straight to Boone for a 6.4 hemi swap.

if i could get a 6 foot bed, extended cab, and the diesel, maybe.

some of the first mods i would do is put on drum brakes, install a pool noodle between the bed and cab, remove the weather strip around the doors so i hear the air whistle as i drive, loosen and move the bed so it doesn't align with the cab, delete the accumulator, remove some hangers so the exhaust hangs below the cross member, install really small radio knobs, lower the driver seat, and put some rocks or miscellaneous hardware inside the door panels so they squeak and rattle.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
You are asking a Tacoma forum, so obviously there will be more "no" answers. I will also be in the "no" side.

I did consider the Gladiator a bit. Not sure how similar it would be, but I also test drove a manual Wrangler.

I chose the Tacoma because a manual Tacoma has a higher towing capacity (6400 lbs) than a manual Gladiator (4000-4500 lbs). I want to have the option to tow my track car, and the manual Gladiator wouldn't have the capacity to tow what I want, while I have already done that with my Tacoma a few times.

More of an opinion thing, but I also like how the Tacoma looks much more than the Gladiator.

I guess my short answer is no. But every now and then I will see a Gladiator done up right and find myself saying "damn!"

The 3.6 L Pentastar is one of the best engines on the market, better than anything Toyota currently makes in a truck or SUV, but it is way too small for the gladiator.

The ZF 8 speed transmission is also a piece of German engineering masterwork, but that’s not going to help you with an overweight pick up.

There’s a class action suit but we’re on our second JGC with zero problems. The first one we traded with 125,000 miles for the current one which already has 40,000.

The engine and transmission combination is just great, too bad the dynamic handling of that SUV sucks.

Wouldn't call an engine with a class action lawsuit against it "better than anything Toyota currently makes in a truck or SUV" In fact that would be way worse. Like calling 2nd gen frames "the most corrosion resistant frames on the market" because the frame you happen to personally own hasn't rusted out yet. Just a strait up lie.

My 4Runner had 325K on it when I sold it to a business who still uses it a a parts delivery vehicle. All original and everything worked with no problems.

Don't have a new Jeep, but the 2 that I have, both have engine problems.

    I rest my case.

for me it was tacoma or gladiator - went with the tacoma because of:
1...for all the things I wanted on a truck the glad. was 5k more,
2... the tacoma was more comfortable on trips likely
3....I thought for long term reliability the tacoma was better
4... the road noise would be less on the tacoma - (the jeep doors and hard top noise)

but the glad. has a front locker i think and the back seat is bigger and prob better at hard core off roading

maybe 20 years younger I would have got the jeep truck
