I drive cheap beater yotas. So instead of a truck payment I had a cabin payment.

 

The last 9.5 years I've never had a car payment either, as I was fortunate enough to be able to pay for my 4runner in full (2001 model year)

I don't think I've had a car payment in the last 5 years either. I finished paying off one then paid for my taco in full last year.

 

Where is this guy?? He been gone a while.

 

The idea of a car payment scares me, honestly. But I guess I'm really blessed in that regard. That's also a part of the reason why I try my absolute best to keep up and maintain the 4Runner. It has almost 319K miles and I daily drive it so I must be doing something right.

One day I'd like to own a brand new vehicle, but I just don't need it right now. And really can't afford it right now

 

Morning all and happy Saturday! Few errands around town with the wife… then headed out to go look at a 1st Gen 2wd shortie I found in someone’s field the other day at work while driving around… hopefully a good day for a knock on the door, introductions, and maybe a possible new Taco in the family. Always wanted to build a little street truck… maybe swap the 22R out for a J-Spec 1JZ-GTE motor… wishful thinking anyway.

I never had a car payment. Back in 2013 i bought my 04 Tacoma with a seized 3.4 for $500. I installed a 69k mile salvage yard motor, then a suspension lift, tundra brakes ect... Back in 2012 I bought my 2000 4runner for $3k with a leaking radiator. Then a suspension lift, tundra brakes ect... In 2015 I bought my wife a 86k mile 02 4runner for $5800. She won't let me lift it tho. All 3 I bought from customers at the shop i worked at. All 3 have been bulletproof, no issues. Before I made the move here to WV I offered to buy her a new toyota suv but she loves her 4runner.

 

It was a beautiful Fall morning to have my coffee while taking a sxs ride.

 

Dude. You are literally killing it. That is awesome!!! A 69K mile motor? That's incredible. And will last you a lifetime. I'm happy for you and don't even personally know you.
It's funny you say that the wife won't let you lift hers. I kinda want an all stock 3rd gen and refresh everything with brand new oem parts so I could really get the feel for what it felt like driving off the lot day one. And I think it would be more practical for daily driving and fuel economy of course.
