How much that new driveshaft set you back from the dealer?

I'm currently debating my options, I need a new shaft, not sure I want to do Tom Woods one piece as I would need a 4" shaft and I'm not crazy about cutting my center support frame member out.

 

Put on Redline Tuning hood struts. I got the quicklift plus struts because the stainless was too flashy for me. Once I figured out how they were measuring for the top bracket depth and having to loosen the fender to get the self tapper lower brackets in it went smooth. Overall it went good and the directions are nice. Nice being able to close the hood from the side now.

 

$585 to my door, took a bit longer than expected because it came from Lakeland and you guys were dealing with Ian. I hope everything is good with you and your family.

Yes, they can't make a 1 piece over 70 inches, really over 60 is kinda pushing it and for my Access Cab manual trans my shaft, if I got a one piece, would be 68.75".

 

That had to have been a mortgage payment

 

Appreciate the info. Yeah idk what I’m gonna do. I’m sick of all the maintenance but every time I fix something I tell myself “it’ll still be cheaper than buying a new truck” but man idk if it’s worth the headache lol

 

@MSgt O Im just hoping I can unseize the caliper today. New calipers are on the list but shops around here have been having a hard time. Well every business that requires appointments, really. Everything from motorcycle mechanics to optometrists are scheduling 3+ months out

should clarify the rotors are only a couple months old. Any ideas to at least retract the caliper for the time being or should I just put the old pad back in that one? Shops are generally booked for weeks to months here in Maine

You should try replacing the calipers yourself. It’s not to hard, there is plenty of threads on bleeding the brakes. As long as you don’t let the master go dry, you’ll be good
And to fix your existing sticking caliper you would have to take it off to rebuild it and would have to bleed it also

 

for me missing that original post was yours, and another for you missing the responses to those posts, as yes, you probably could of saved yourself from a headache.

 

Yeah I’ll have to do some research. For some reason, the idea of bleeding or flushing fluids (brake fluid, trans fluid, etc) all scare and confuse the shit out of me. Good news is the shudder is reduced today by a lot. I also heard a clunk when I smashed on the brake so I wonder if I either unstuck a piston or the pads are seating themselves better in the calipers (they don’t slide all that freely so the old pads had a “happy spot” in the caliper). It also seems to be not dragging anymore, or if it is, only by 10% of what it was yesterday. Another thing could be just that I got some chemicals or shit on a rotor and it’s finally burning off. Idk I’ll just be happy it’s better than yesterday. The main concern for me was the dragging and the strain it would put on the engine/trans and the decrease in mpgs

 

I’ll see what changes over the course of the week, as I work tomorrow. If it keeps improving at least back to what it was like before the new pads, just with more bite, I’ll be happy and I can put in the orders/appointments I’d need. They passed the emergency stop test today when a dog ran across the road in a 50 mph neighborhood…

 

I purchased everything from Rock Auto, pipe assembly with the catalytic converter and resonator, and the upstream and downstream O2 sensors. Right at $500.

 

Still hot here in TX so took the opportunity to Fluid Film the undercarriage before the cold comes in another month or so. Still almost no signs of rust on the truck at all. Oddly, the only (minor) rust is on the hitch. Frame is still immaculate.

 

Well since it was a gorgeous day and the wife wanted some peace and quiet while she did some schoolwork, I decided to go for a drive. Was out for about an hour and found a country-esque two lane road. (Was super happy to have found this stretch of road in Central Cali since it got me out of the city!) Not only was it a wonderful drive, but I think I found a new honey hole as well!! However, there's some good news and some bad news... Good news is I hit the highest mpg avg I've ever gotten while driving my truck (20.4 avg mpg). The bad news... I noticed I have what sounds like some form of suspension squeak coming from my front pass side whenever I hit a bump. Guess I get to figure out what that is now

 

I didn't realize there was a difference in sway bars. I always thought the difference between the trims was in the shocks. Is the Off Road sway bar made of a softer metal?

 

Icon RXT leafs on option 2 & Bilstein 5160 shocks installed today. Took off 5100’s & 3rd gen leafs w/ 3 leaf AAL. Gained about 3/4” from the old set up, but imagine it will settle out a bit over time. At 24.25” now from center of wheel to fender. Limited driving around town after, but so far WAY smoother ride with the RXT’s!
