I am trying to replace the CR2032 battery in my key fob with a new one but the new battery will not seat. The negative side keeps popping out. It's an energizer if that makes a difference. Anyone else have this problem?

    Can't say I have.

Have you tried adjusting the clips with a jewelers screwdriver? :anonymous:

I don't have a screwdriver that small. Even if I did I'm not sure I would know what needs adjusting. I did try to reinsert the original just in case I bent something but it snapped right into place like it's supposed to. The new one must be different somehow

Could the original battery be a CR2025?

And a really stupid question - you are sure you're exchanging 2032 for 2032, not 2016 or 2025, right? All have the same diameter, but the thickness can cause issues with certain gadgets.

The 2032 is for trucks with the smart key system. The 2016 is for those without it. My original is a panasonic CR2032 and the replacement is an energizer CR2032. One thing I noticed is the bottom of the panasonic has a more squared off bottom whereas the energizer is more rounded. So keep that in mind when y'all change batteries.

Also I went ahead and reassembled everything and with the key fob all together it pushes the battery down into the right place and everything works

No it's correctly oriented but the energizer just doesn't snap into place like the panasonic does. Odd but it works anyway

I went ahead and ordered new panasonic batteries off of Amazon. Energizer seems to be the only batteries anyone sells around here in the key fob size and even though they do work it just really annoys me that they don't seat properly. Got the panasonics today and just like the original ones, they popped right into place so everything is good now.
