I am about to purchase either a 2022 or 2023 TRD Pro. I have my factory tonneau from my 2021 TRD Off Road, and all the necessary mounting hardware. However, I notice that on the 2022 TRD Pro, the factory tonneau is no longer an option, and I am concerned that the bed may not have all of the predrilled and threaded holes. Can anyone confirm that the mounting points are still there, or better yet, confirm that the factory tonneau can be fitted to a 2022 TRD Pro?

Wow that does look good. Mines almost a light grey now. Evercoat has several products. Could you tell me which one you used? (Just realized this was an old post I replied to)

Thank you. I will try and see if I have the bottle still. I last used it about six months ago and barley have enough to do it again. I do put 303 areo space on it for added protection and shine , try some.

I noticed that as well. I'd be curious to know if hard tonneau fits as well. The only option given is the soft tonneau in the Accessories section.

I don't think there is a design change. I would be willing to bet it will work. You will need to cut the rails, good luck.

The problem is, that there HAS been a design change. The sides of the bed are now stamped with the TRD PRO logo, which could mean a different part with no pre-drilled holes. As far as the rest of the installation goes, I have the proper side rails with the cutouts, all of the hardware and even the 2 rubber grommets. Anyone that knows if the pre-drilled holes are there, please chime in.

I think your taking the bed design with the stamping a design change a little much. If you have everything and then you get possession and it doesn't fit you call sell it off. I seriously don't think you will have any issues.

I see it as, a stamped bed is a different part, and since they no longer offer the tonneau cover as an option, no threaded holes which cost money to drill and had tapped sleeves. When all the beds were the same, it was probably more cost effective to keep the holes in all of them. I have everything and can sell it off, but I am looking for confirmation because I really want to use it and otherwise will have to plan accordingly.

Drilling and tapping the holes is easy. I would venture to say that the holes are there and tapped. All you can do is hope for the best. If it doesn't work which I seriously doubt then either drill and tap or sell it off. The dealership should call their rep and inquire about this. Those beds are mass made so I would think the holes are there prior to being stamped.

I paid $1100 for a Back Flip and installed it myself, easy job. Why anyone would buy the factory one is beyond me. It's $500 - $600 more $$$$$

Actually, if was an $850 option on my 2021 TRD OR and I liked it a lot, so I kept it and want to use it again.

In my opinion the OEM one looks the best, heavy duty, best texture finish, rugged looking and the fit and finish is the best. They all leak around the tailgate unless you put a small weather stripping in the tailgate jam as I did. It doesn't get wet in there now. The aftermarket ones are to squared off looking and looks like you got it from pep boys off the accessories lane. There may be others but for the last 4 years mine still looks and functions as the day I got my Tacoma.

The problem that I have with the Tacoma factory tonneau cover is that if you want access to the entire truck bed opening, you have to completely remove the tonneau cover...and then what do you do with it and where do you put it? With the aftermarket BakFlip, the tonneau cover flips up in sections giving open access to the entire bed, expect for about 6 inches.

If I need to use the full bed and know that I need to take the cover off, that's what I do. Then it sits in the garage until it goes back on. I never had a problem carrying anything where the thought of the cover getting in the way. Simply just remove it.

No, I’m still in search of a 6MT solar octane TRD PRO. I will advise this thread when I purchase the truck and attempt to put on my 2021 factory tonneau. I am concerned that the screw holes may not be there. We’ll see.
