Can you post a couple of pics of how it attached to the frame? I’m just curious. I agree that you should not have to mess with it and they should have been made correctly but they are just steel. I don’t see why the mounting hole can’t be elongated and then re-welded so it bolts up without having to weld it to the truck. Maybe in my head it’s different but it doesn’t sound like that big of a problem.

just out of curiosity, how would of OP verified that the slider was correctly manufactured when he received it. And how would he of known that hardware was missing from the bag without a item list?

How do we know they didnt? OP signed the package saying he had it so not like his word is gold. Most companies are no longer including instructions and things like this and instead simply putting a link into emails and invoices for people to view on their own.

That being said, OP could have easily pulled it down and looked at it.

As far as the second question, standard sliders are ~81" while DCLB sliders are typically ~95", but based on this thread I'd be surprised if OP even has a tape measure. A lot of companies dont even sell DCLB sliders.

No one is expecting the OP to verify or know whether they are DOM or HREW, but we are expecting a little more common sense.

Multiple truths can exist at once.

While I am grateful for the aftermarket support, I do think that the generation running many of these companies could be a bit better.

It is conpletely puzzling to me that many companies do not include install guides and rely on youtube videos!

Big positive shoutout to off grid engineering for a full color detailed install guide for their dual battery kit. Thanks Matt!

A dual battery kit from Matt is more of a niche product and most people are very intimidated with wiring and electrical work.

Sliders are are commoditized and are installed with like 8 bolts...

As far as youtube...they get ad revenue...while printing documents costs money

They don’t have item lists for all their products. I was missing items and did not get a list until I called them and asked them to email it to me.

I don’t think op is wrong to expect better customer service.

Also common, GenRight wont even email it to you unless they can verify you as the purchaser.....

OP can expect whatever they want but asking for discounts for their own failure and then complaining about it is unreasonable.

This is why a lot of companies sometimes stop selling products all together, we've even seen this with other TW vendors. Yes, companies will stop selling products because customers are too whiney...

I think the failure is on CBI and their poor customer service. But hey, everyone’s entitled to an opinion.

Based on what? Look at the scenario.

OP didnt verify the sliders or parts when he received shipment.
OP didnt verify parts and sliders when taking them to be dropped off for install.
Shop didnt verify hardware and said was missing (How do we know they didnt lose the hardware? I literally had discount tire lose my valve stems..)
OP called CBI and said hardware was missing (or lost).
CBI shipped missing hardware at no cost to OP.
OP asks for discounts and was denied
OP then complains on forums that he didnt get a discount

So because of everyone else's errors CBI is now on the hook for potentially hundreds of dollars?

Or CBI could of made sure they put all the hardware in the packaging like their supposed to.

CBI could of properly manufactured the slider.

CBI could of responded with a “no” when a discount was asked for instead of completely ignoring it.

seems like op was upset that CBI didn’t communicate or provide basic customer service.

But like I said everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.

Those are based on assumptions from only one side of the story...

We can't independently verify that CBI neglected to include the hardware and even if they did, its an honest mistake that doesnt warrant a discount code potentially worth hundreds of dollars. Doesn't even warrant a thread on TW tbh

As far as manufacturing, we can't verify if the shop even knows what they are doing nor if they were manufactured wrong. If CBI shipped the wrong sliders then they should pay for the shipping to have them exchanged but again doesnt mean they should also give out discounts worth hundreds of dollars.

In either case, OP is equally at fault.

Anyways we can probably agree to disagree but I will say the best part of being a business owner is choosing who you do business with.

I still think it’s going over your head. If CBI simply responded with “no we will not give you a discount” instead of ignoring it this thread probably doesn’t get made.

however I have first hand experience with cbis horrendous customer service and this seems like a common thing for them.

I havent had a good experience with any vendor that I have ordered from to be honest..GFC, C4, Accutune, Mobtown, GenRight, Expedition Essentials, Headstrong Offroad, Stech, morrison4x4, etc.

If I was 3 years old, would totally relate to the cold shoulder when asking for a cookie

every vendor I’ve ordered from on this forum has been great. Bamf dropped off skids to my work free of charge. Expedited my slider order and let me come in on a Sunday to pick my order up.

rci has always shipped fast and sent all hardware with my orders. Even remedied a solution for the shipper damaging my powder coating in the same phone call.

CBI lied to me, hung up on me multiple times and had very rude service.

I think the customer service aspect and honesty aspect should be the simplest part.

I think there are multiple issuea and multiple truths.

Bad customer service in lack of response? Sure I can go with that

Liability falls on OP for not checking? Yes I will go with that too.

Poor service for the shop not checking before? Yes again.

All may be true but the 'remedy' is not for CBI to participate financially.

It would 'be nice' if the shop ate the labor but I dont think they have to. They could eat the labor but then charge to uncrate the sliders, discard the pallet, and inventory the hardware. The 'deal' is that OP promised to deliver a complete install kit, and OP skipped a step in not verifying contents. OP relied on CBI to deliver a complete kit but CBI cant warranty all eventualities..they just sent out a replacement. This is common and universally accepted. They cant be expected to be a critical link in a Just in Time production schedule for the OP and his logistics. This is a Toyota but the Toyota production system ended when the truck left the factory.

All of these can be true at the sane time.

You're gonna die on this hill saying "___ was missing from shipment". There's no disconnect there; we understand you had missing parts. But you're blaming CBI for not including this or that - it is YOUR responsibility to verify the shipment you are signing for. You keep assuming "CBI didn't include parts/packing list", yet you refuse to accept that its very possible your shipment left CBI with both of those things, and got lost by the shipping company. It happens every single day, and is why companies make you sign for expensive shipments in the first place. After a while, a company gets tired of eating unnecessary costs when shipping companies are at fault.

"I never made any threats to cancel orders". You asked for discount codes, and when declined, you cancelled your next order. You just said it. There's nothing wrong with asking, but don't get bent out of shape when they decline. You asked for "missing hardware" and they shipped it to you a week later. They resolved the issue completely.

As for fitment issues, if the sliders are truly defective, using all the correct hardware and installed correctly, thats an entire different issue, and you have a strong case. We may disagree on your missing hardware issues, but I'm on your side with CBI needing to cover shipping costs for a return/replacement set. Anything short of that, I'll stand by your side fighting for justice. As for 'if it were my business/how would I handle it', I would have a verified network of shops approved for install (2-3 in every state at the very least). If any issues present at 3rd party shops, I'd have the customer go to some one on the approved list, and if there were a true issue, a replacement set would be sent at no cost to the customer. Our buying agreement would detail return/warranty policies, and you'd always assume responsibilities outlined in that agreement. If you failed, for example, to inspect your parts upon shipment (which you sign for), and also declined optional shipping insurance, and expect ME to eat the costs for damage from shipping or parts lost in shipping, you'd probably be eating those costs yourself. Of course, everything is always case by case, and there are always exceptions.

Question for 3G Tacoma owners with any type of rock sliders, doesn't need to be from CBI. Are they supposed to sit at the same height front to rear? The slider frame is sitting flush against the truck frame but the front tube sits higher on both driver and passenger side, driver's side much higher and that is why it's damaging the the pinch weld. Wondering if I just got a defective unit? The tubes are welded onto the slider frame at an angle. CBI is telling me to see if I can adjust them? How do I adjust them? If I move them downward then the holes don't line up therefore I can't slide the bolt through and the slide frame no longer sits against the truck frame... WTF?

Driver's side even standing from 10 feet away I can see the rear is lower
