I’m sure you think it is just like Portlandia.

I wish. Don't get me wrong I love Portland, and Seattle and hell I love Brussels and NYC but I'd never suggest them as bastions of logic and reason.

Isn’t every one high as a kite in Colorado? Not saying that I’m buying in to any stereotypes.

Yep. I’d think a smart tactic for Rivian would’ve been to only sell/deliver to addresses within 200 miles of those locations. Some of the onus falls on the buyer though. When you knowingly buy a new to market vehicle and don’t live near a service center you are taking a risk that you might not have use of the vehicle for extended periods of time.

Seems like it would have been a good idea to partner with Ford or a service center like Firestone to share their garage space when needed. It seems like Rivian assumes their vehicles will never break.

One advantage that the legacy auto manufacturers have is that they have an established dealer network which makes service much easier on the consumer. One major disadvantage that the legacy automakers have is that they have an established dealer network that makes money as the middleman which increases the price to the consumer. Just look at the Ford Lightning or Hummer EV for proof that this isn’t good for the consumer.

You think they would be cheaper offered through a legacy automakers dealer network? You’re hilarious!

They certainly wouldn’t be more expensive than they already are. How much can you charge for a midsize truck? We aren’t talking about Ferraris or Lamborghinis here.

The Rivian and Lightning Lariat are right about the same price and feature levels. Being a major established manufacturer doesn’t seem to have an effect on price.

The Lightning Pro is half the price of those two and the Silverado EV is supposed to start in the 40K range.

A Mercedes EQ X-class would be much closer and I’d expect it would be sold at a premium relative to the Rivian and it would have their known build quality.

Yes, but the Lightning Pro has a no frills work truck interior and 100 miles less range. Same for the base model Silverado EV.

I just assume these companies would only sell their trucks in SF, LA, NYC, and possibly Austin because to the kind of people who buy these things that’s pretty much the entirety of America. Maybe Jackson if we are talking about Wyoming. Lots of billionaires there.

I doubt they’ll be rushing to make the $40k Silverados , especially if they have $80k preorders.
