It's less Tacoma and more mod
Crispy, count yourself amongst the lucky that the drums came off easily, sometimes they're so worn that the groove holds them on and you have to break everything to get them off.

I marred the other hub shaft. Is it ruined or can I still use it?

Sand it with a 3m or scotch bright pad. Can't tell if it created metal ridges in the hub. Might catch when pressing on the new wheel bearing.

My buddy came over to help me tackle the brakes and work on my beer, we managed to get everything checked off the list for today: front rotors, paint calipers, rear extended brake line. Tomorrow's agenda is the front brake lines and paint the drums/hubs. I've had pretty bad shaking when braking hard so I'm doing rotors and will get the wheels balanced later this week.

    Old rotors:

    rotor before.jpg

    New rotors:

    rotor after.jpg

Old calipers (best picture I could find since I didn't take any today):

    caliper before.jpg

    Passenger caliper during first coat:

    caliper one coat.jpg

Calipers after one coat and some dry time:

    caliper one coat 2.jpg

I did a second coat on both calipers and will let them dry overnight then reinstall tomorrow with new brake lines up front as well. No pics of the rear extended brake line but I'm sure you get the concept.

Squared away final interior mods but still deciding on the transfer case boot... charcoal gray boot or black boot (leaning towards black)?

Swapped out the gray AT shift handle for the 4Runner black and will be using an FJ Cruiser handle (36303-35210-B0) for the transfer case.

Putting in an order for 4x innovation sliders and still want to explore front skid options that will work with the ARB. RCI maybe.
Will be starting the transmission install this week. :help: lol

I vote black since the trans shifter fascia is black as well, looks more cohesive IMO.

It turned out great, we worked really hard on it and it paid off! Much more enjoyable than sanding brake calipers.

Yes. I gently pulled them off by hand. Couldn't believe it. Those things are so rusted, as was much of the inside and backing plate. The parking brake has been broken for a few years at least (rust) so the brakes haven't been adjusted in sometime and therefore had a decent gap between the shoes and the drums. The pin that held in the front shoe on the passenger side had also rusted away. You can see it missing in the before picture i uploaded.

    install went very well today.:bananadance:

No rusted up bolts, reused all old hardware, if the u-bolts fail I will create a fail thread so others who search will find it.
and I am at a 39" to the fender in the rear. Now to load it up with tools and lumber for work.:bikewheelie2:

    Next mods/upgrades/updates are:
    front coilovers:militarypress:
truck rack (either HF ladder rack with mods or the HF aluminum one with mods)

    :cheers

Started buttoning back up and found that one of my caliper pistons on the driver's side is seized... tomorrow should be fun.

Not many shift knobs I like that didn't come with the vehicle but I like that one on the tcase shifter.

Right knuckle painted. New national bearing and outboard seal installed with timken snap ring. Woulda finished but had to stop for a daggum eye appt.

Boy what Id give for an uninterrupted week to finish this truck, or a Klondike bar.
