Yep. Definitely not ideal for doing the cross country speed run with any frequency. I think I’ll be ok with it for the once or twice a year trips I take.

Yeah it will, some of those small towns might get you punched in your teeth if you roll up in an EV looking for an outlet…

…shoot I get nervous driving my Jap Crap through them. lol!

At highway rest stops we are going to need tons of chargers. In town we probably won’t need as many as most people will be charging at home. If I had an EV I would never need to go to my local gas station again even though I’m there twice a week for gas now.

You already see smart businesses (typically restaurants and hotels) that are out in the middle of nowhere adding Level 2 chargers to encourage EV travelers to stop and spend their time (and money) at their business.

We’ve had that for years around here. I think the problem with those is there’s usually only a couple chargers and people leave their car parked at them the entire time they are eating or at the hotel. They don’t move it when it’s finished charging for others to use.

You’re correct, EV charger etiquette is something that people need to learn. Another one most people don’t know is that Tesla V2 Superchargers are paired so if someone plugs into the Supercharger that “your” Supercharger is paired to, you will only get 1/2 the charging rate. That’s why you usually see gaps between cars at the older Supercharger stations.

You’ll get a ticket for lingering at some EV charging stations around here. I think the ones downtown have a three hour limit.

A lot of the chargers will charge idle fees as well. I’ve heard it being said that they are the next version of “overdraft fees”.

Scorp Verde are light performance tires.

They howled like a mfer. I didn’t like them. I also had them wear super fast on me.

What are people going to do who want to charge their EV and also park in a reserved handicap space?

Are all handicap spaces going to get a charging station?

Not sure, I’ve never seen a handicapped parking space with an EV charger.

Neither have I, it could be a waste of a charger. There are many places that never utilize their designated handicap spaces, for the handicap. ADA requires them anyway.

If I'm a handicap car buyer, parking the vehicle might be more important than it's fuel source.

I’ll stay out of the whole range discussion - lots of BS on both sides here. But I did a ten mile test drive in an R1T last week, plus about 30 minutes crawling all over it. Very impressive, not just behind the wheel but the design details and usability as a recreational plus occasional utility vehicle, which is what my DCSB is for. With a cab-high RTT, dirty stuff like firewood, tools, and recovery gear in the bed, and camping gear, food etc in the frunk and gear tunnel it should be great for what many of us do with our Tacoma’s. Personally, I thought the 835 hp was way overkill but it was fun. Adjustable height suspension (15” ground clearance max), factory 33’s, 4 motor traction, smooth and tough underbody … what’s not to like? And with pre-order pricing, plus some tax credits, plus the fact I could probably get over $30K for my 7 year old 85K mile TRDOR, and the price of entry is pretty attractive.

But, range, sorry, I did bring it up after all but it is an issue at this time. And lack of charging (at least for now) in places where I can get gas if I need it (and have), like Fields Oregon or Panamint Springs. And a new unknown company that’s on shaky financial legs plus whose nearest service center is 50 miles away. But, as a vehicle, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. If it were the same vehicle from an established manufacturer like Toyota or even Tesla, with access to a SuperCharger-like network, I’d buy it no question.
