Anyone have a recommendation for a machine shop? It can be in Flagstaff or the valley. Or does anyone have a lathe? I need to have the smooth shoulder of two bolts taken down from 5/8" to 1/2" to fit my shocks.

I was cleaning mud out of places on the truck until earlier this year. Nothing worse than working on your truck and having dry ass mud constantly falling out of every bolt you loosen. Also, the mud up there is mostly Donkey shit so yeah, no. It’s not even worth going out there. Every weekend you hear on the news that someone died out there. Fuck Lake Pleasant.

I’ve fished out there, I live close by. I like to drive those roads west of the lake often

This is the time of year I start to think about heading out there. The days when desiring strongly the NRS neoprene booties while paddle boarding at sunrise are soon approaching, and that means most others stay away. This is the time of year my outdoors season emerges. Everyone else's kids are in school and wound up in their schedules, discomfort at being outside starts to discourage many.

This weekend contained another chapter in the book of "why we can't have nice things". Was camping up at Canyon Pt CG with the adult kids, enjoying the evening after the rain had stopped and thinking about a campfire. Noticed the neighbor across the way with a BIG fire just starting. Thought to myself, welp, another fire water encouragement. Then saw one smaller flame moving away from the fire, like someone's shoe had caught on fire. Yep. It was. Then the fire got really big. Again, thinking to myself, they're gonna need some help, grabbed my shovel and started walking that way. Mind you, I'm in shorts, sandals, and a jacket. As I walk, the fire is REALLY BIG, and running up the side of a tree at their site. I am so glad it had been raining the last few afternoons, the fire guy's wife was hollering "help!" and others were starting to take note. I'm trying to keep a tree between my unprotected flesh and that 5 gal red plastic walmart gas can laying on its side glug, glugging it's contents into the dirt. While scooping wet dirt on the migrating flames, someone else shows up with two, 10 lbs dry chem extinguishers (and as I watch, knows how to use them). Finally and fortuitously, we all get it pretty well tamped down, and the Forest Lakes FD shows up. Thankfully, we all departed to our campsites and the offending people had to explain themselves. The FD came back in the morning (the charred bark on the Ponderosa at least 15 feet high way more than double me and dry chem spread around the fire pit) took photos, hopefully admonished them heartily, and departed.

I'm glad for those percentages, UEL and LEL, since that melted plastic can never did fall between those - it just melted and spooged it's contents.

All you folks with the FD logo in your sig, thanks for putting up with us "civies". At work we try to poka-yoke "idiot proof" our processes, but goodness golly, there are some very competent idiots.

Yes, agreed, but I really like those old Ponderosa's. The vanilla scent of the bark in the sunshine, the wind through the needles, I get it, part of the cycle, but why do some just not think before doing? Just a bit, 30 sec, and you might come up with "this might not be such a good idea"

Cool thing up there, a ranger had an evening presentation "forest thinning using machines" hopefully there are some kids that got the bug

The problem is these people don’t have common sense. I’d say it’s mostly young adults but we see senior citizens doing stupid shit like that all the time. Part of it is they just aren’t real outdoors people, part of it is getting wrapped up in the moment and “spirits” (both kinds) and the last is just inexperienced people.

Unfortunately, probably not man. We are slammed, short handed, and I'm currently in the process of taking on a ton of new responsibilities (forced, huge promotion for me though), so my time is limited. I wouldnt be able to get to it right away.

No worries. Do you know any other shops that could do it?

    Also congrats!

Found some old fart camping out near the start of a canyon near Roosevelt.........

Decided to bring him along for the adventure, as he had the appropriate gear.

None of the water pools to deep. About crotch deep for me. Just enough to tickle the...bits
