Basik has some too, think hes been talking about it for a couple years. Putting of his racks in this weekend with his offset bushings so will see how that goes/how that feels, going to be plating the whole crossmember as well so I dont rip the rack outta the frame

What is there reasoning behind not being able to do it? I feel like there is some missing information here. Do you have a standard King bump or their short threaded style?

I wasn't able to confirm the King PN but here is a link to the FOX variant. Should be a very similar product.

I think their biggest issue is the loss of fluid volume with a 1 inch spacer added in. I do agree with them…when I did mine it was noticeable when adding in the fluid. But since I did it myself I know the risk. No issues so far and I beat the fuck out of them. Though if I wasn’t running a bypass I’d probably would not shorten mine.

Now I can save my pennies for the Tundra rack, those offset bushings will be game changers for this.

These are the bumps I have:
    https://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-19986929?q=Bump+stop+shorty+

No missing info. At least I don’t think. I said I had those bumps and wanted to shorten them to 1” stroke.

First time they said it’s due to oil volume. I didn’t press it and just took them off using only my bypass for bumps. That kind of makes me nervous so I threw them back on, remembered why I had removed them, so I asked again but this time said I didn’t have any other options and needed to shorten.

Still said no with the reason being 2” is the shortest they can go and still work properly.

Worst case I can just remove them again and either run bypass only again or put in sole superbumps I have sitting around. Orrr…maybe some low profile poly bump like Marlin uses and use my bypass for bumps and the poly one for an “emergency use only” bump. :)

I’m pretty sure this is the reason. I feel like they are thinking this idiot wants to slap in a spacer then blame us when it doesn’t work or breaks.

If I did add the spacer any idea how long it needs to be?

The question I would have is, does the bushings move the rack far enough forward to allow tie rods to clear the springs if LCA's have been moved forward? I assume you still need to alter the length of the steering shaft. One thing about staying with the stock rack and stock steering shaft is that they readily available. Going with the Tundra rack I believe everything is custom. With the JD Fab set up maybe Harry can chime in hear. If the slide rack failed or got damaged, could it be eliminated from the system on the trail and go back to tie rods (spare tie rods) directly off the rack. As long as the tie rods would clear the springs.

I like that they're actively looking out for customers and not just making changes. You make the spacers long enough to take up the distance you want to subtract from the travel. So if you have 2" stroke bumps, and you want 1" stroke, then you get 1" spacers.

He's bumping off the inside of his arms. So the outside path of travel could be a lot more than 2-1/4". I have the same problem and I have a lot more than two inches of travel.

What is bump pressure at? Do you ever fully stuff a bump on your hard hits?

I refuse to believe there will ever be a situation where someone breaks their steering shaft and still has a remotely repairable truck
I could see sheering the splines at the bottom or skipping some maybe. I'm still a strong believer that that's what's really happening sometimes when people mention their rack skipping teeth. But i don't see how you could damage a steering shaft that bad without a rollover or having at least half your suspension ripped off

Hes talking about just being able to swap a stock steering rack back in on the trail, and not breaking the steering shaft. With a Tundra rack, you only option is to swap in another modified tundra rack, unless you have the ecentrics or an adjustble steering shaft to adapt back to a stock rack.

The point being is that with the entire steering system using modified parts if something does fail the more likely of longer down time waiting for replacements. I also like to keep the week link (there will always be one) an item that is easy as possible to change.
