Does anyone do the 5000 mile service? I think it is a waste of time and money for only a tire rotation.

Shouldn’t it be free? And if it is, I wouldn’t waste it on a tire rotation unless you plan on making them pay for the oil change as well.

Kinda, but most people don't check their tire pressures or fluids anymore.

I tell people do 5k oil change only, then 10k inspection, rotation, oil change

It does not void warranty to skip the 5k, ever.

I did do an oil change and the rest of the crap check at 5k at the dealer.

The only reason I'd do it is to allow someone to take a peep underneath and see if anything is amiss before it becomes a problem.

They won't change your oil while doing this unless you pay for it.

If you plan on keeping your tires for as long as possible every 5k rotation is the way to go. I'm poor-folk so I can't go out and buy a new set
on a whim just because, therefore I want these to last as long as possible. Heck they'll probably outlive me.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Looking back, I should have done a rear diff oil change around that time. Let’s just say wow, what a filthy, stinking mess

That two-year 25,000 mile free maintenance includes two oil changes, I’m pretty sure you could shorten this maintenance interval and have them pay for the 5000 and 10,000 mile service. By the way, using the vehicle off-road, in cold, snow and ice, towing, and hauling bumps up the scheduled service to every 5000 not 10,000 miles. I’m probably going to change my oil at 5000 miles.

    Oh look, another mod....

This is all covered under the 25k mile Toyota Care plan, so it's free. But I took mine in every time it was schedule because:

    1) It showed Toyota I was doing what I was supposed to, according to their guidelines.
    2) My local dealership has a nice lobby-waiting area, and they give out 12 different types of muffins, 4 different gourmet coffee flavors and have a big ass 4k tv with (usually) a good movie playing.
