so far no drops on the garage floor. but i did buy it and just didnt think i needed to install it.

Removal tool was borrowed from a forum member i met at a camping trip.

Installed the bearing with this. (i put the bearing in the freezer to help it push in quicker)

Pulled off the AVS bug shield today to clean and wax under it. Annoyed to find a bit of paint damage under the hood where dirt/rocks were caught under the lip. Still believe they are worth the protection they provide to the front edge of the hood so I used a piece of left over gasket to prevent any further scratching on the underside. Wish I had done this when I put it on for the first time.

I like they are outside of the bed space, having installed them (I have only read the “sales pitch”), do you believe they will provide the needed support?

I know this is a bad word here, but I just installed KTJO hood strut because it didn’t require drilling or rivets.
Took me 10 mins to install.
There’s an existing hole on the hood and an expansion screw is supplied for that hole and using one of the bolts for the hood.

My only issue is the word “tacoma” is painted on the side. There was no option to remove it. I think it’s tacky because the lettering is tall and looks cheesy. I’ll rub it off with some acetone.

Quality seems good. Brackets are thick and hard to tell on the struts but considering how many times I open the hood I’m not too worried. I can replace them if I needed as I’m sure I can the same size

I am still trying to figure out how that one little piece of metal is supposed to strengthen the bed? It connects on one side of the bed only?

I think they will provide enough support for my needs. Definitely not as robust as my old ones as they mounted to the frame but other than that I think they are pretty beefy.

Nothing other than I wanted to get rid of that lip that restricted things from sliding out.
