I stopped playing OW a long time ago. The hero balance seemed to get out of hand and it wasn’t as much fun once it went from a novelty everyone was playing into being another salt filled team game where winners gg and losers scream in chat at each other.

It doesn’t help that 2 seems to not be a great update. Smaller teams and paywalls aren’t an upgrade, but that’s totally my opinion and might appeal to others.

I've gotta say OW1 relied heavily on teamwork, and while I enjoy that aspect of nearly every game, it was too weighted. It was fun playing with a full team of friends that worked well together, but if you were down a man or two and get a rando that wasn't that great, they could single handedly lose matches for you. There's always the kid trying to break every DPS record while playing the squishiest healer.. While I love the focus on working together as a team, there has to be something to account for the talent of individuals who are just simply better, and can carry the weight of those less experienced players. OW2 seemed to really address that, and I've gotta say I absolutely loved the beta. Adding new characters, and plans to keep adding new characters, as well as moving to free to play/battle pass style setup, I think they've done just about the best they can, given their company hiccups. Hero balance still needs some work (at least it did in the beta); new characters were very obviously overpowered, and they made some questionable changes to some characters to make them stronger, but I was surprised to see how many characters had abilities taken away or tweaked to make them more balanced. I thought moving to a 5 man team was going to be my biggest critique, and I'm still not completely convinced its "better", but at the end of the day, it was more balanced, and the OW2 beta proved to me they were at least trying to take steps in the right direction. Ability to merge console/PC accounts is exciting too. For years, everyone had to buy the game on both; now people like me who played on console before can give it a shot on PC and not have to "start over" in the sense of losing all skins/emotes/currency/etc.

Is it worth it to upgrade my cheap b450 ds3h mobo to an x570s aorus elite? I'd eventually like to upgrade my ryzen 5 3600 to either a 5600 or 5800x as well as my gpu from an rx580 to maybe a 6600/6700xt. Trying to upgrade in stages instead of all at once.

    Yeah.
My opinion is that yes, it's worth having the better chipset if you are going to upgrade CPU, GPU, and memory in the future. The x570 gives you double the bandwidth for the GPU and allows for higher memory speeds. But, depending on how long this will take you, you may just want to wait -- you may box yourself in to older tech. If you will do all of this in less than a year, might be worth it if the prices are right.

Yeah understandable. Not to mention my current motherboard only has 1 fan header and the onboard audio is pretty low tier. Don’t expect to move to am5 since the “budget” 7600x is $300 vs $200 5600x or even $160 5600 and ddr5 is pricey

I agree on the am5 mobo pricing. Ridiculous. I am saving up to build a computer with my son who is turning 11 soon. Ill wait a while for all the new stuff to hit the market first though. Let intel and amd (and nvidia) drop their prices a bit on the new stuff. If still too expensive, ill grab a 5600 and b650 with a mid range gpu. Thatll be plenty for him.

I don’t think b650 will support 5000 series? I agree though on pricing. I really only need to upgrade my gpu/mobo though. My Ryzen 5 3600 is plenty to push a 6600 or 6650xt. Really eyeing the x570s aorus elite for my mobo being right at $200.

12100f is about on par with the 3900x for gaming in Gamers Nexus testing and is the new budget king at $105 with the next best budget cpu being the ryzen 5 5600 at $160

See the Ryzen 5600X is what I had been set on for a bit, but it's already a little older and I normally see it for closer to $200.

Socket 775 can be tricked into accepting a Xeon processor with a $2 sticker from eBay. Just an FYI, I built a 775 system with a 4 core Xeon for a retro gamer a few years back using that trick.

I'd have to look back but that sounds about right. I was simply saying if you didn't have a MB yet you could look at a bit nicer and newer 775 board and find a Xeon for a couple of bucks over a specific chip like the E8400 that'll likely cost more. Xeons tend to be cheap now because business systems are heavily scavenged overseas. More supply means lower cost.

Yeah the 5600x is $30-40 higher than the 5600, but the x isn’t worth the price increase

I was debating the ProSiphon as well. I've heard it works better with chips with bigger heat spreaders like Intel or Threadripper. It might get fixed though next year when the copper edition is supposed to come out.

In the next couple days I should have a chance to dig and look for my G.Skills but I did find these where I thought thr G.Skills were.

    Already here.

Okay theoretically for HEDT but definitely on some server level multi socket boards.
