never use a chef's knife to cut thru your finger.

ever! never EVER! i was chopping parsley, fingers in, knuckles out. friend asked me, "where is the salt?"

just like that, finger came out..mofo!! i cut thru my index nail towards the tip. i almost fainted.

typing sucks. i have never used my backspace key as much in my life!!

I think that the title of this thread is misleading. A Chefs knife is obviously a good tool with which to cut through one's finger.

you might want to see a doctor about that one. that could use a stitch or two.

 

nooo..that (saw injury) was last year. and it was after stitches. my knife injury, probably need stitching, but i stopped the bleeding pretty quick, so i didnt go.

 

I did a bad thing with a 10 inch knife once, a buddy of mine messed up my blade on my main knife and I was pissed and whent to hone it and cut the tendon on my thumb. Put me in a thumb brace and stitches for two weeks.

 

Do you cut meat or just your thumb and fingers? I cut meat, and the injuries from meat cutting are terrible, band saws and steak knives are the worst I have seen. Now I wear a stainless glove whenever I cut boneless meat, the band saw is another thing....I just respect it a bit more than I did in the past.

 

damn, that sucks! I had the same passing out feeling when I cut the shit out of my finger with a screw. OT, but at least it wasn't a chainsaw...my friend almost lost his thumb when a guy we worked with came down on his hand with with one, luckily he was wearing gloves which bound up the saw. It cut through a tendon and hit the bone.
