Heard a pop on the way home today after going through a little dip. Reservoir sheared off

Lol unfortunately there’s not a good story behind this one. When I say a little dip, I really mean a small pot hole on a dirt road going no more than 10 mph. Murphy at work I guess

I have never seen a Resi do that! Let alone on a King.. I have seen Icons fail multiple times (shocks, not the Resi's) but not tha Kangs!

Rest of the suspension looks fine. No issues with the leaf springs, and there was no weight in the bed of the truck when this happened. I thought it was my spare tire bouncing around a little when i first heard the pop so i kept on going (i was like 1/4 mile from home). Pulled up to the house and smelled burning oil and then found shock oil all over the place. Just glad it wasnt the brake lines! It could be worse
Yeah i was kinda suprised when i saw it too. I thought these things could take a real beating, but this isn't so confidence inspiring lol

I hear you.. but, to be fair that is the first I've seen with Kings.. and I've beat on mine and rebuilt them once so far (basic rebuild, nothing catastrophic like you). I'm curious how much your environment and or corrosion had a part in it.

The truck has been in Texas it’s whole life and have only driven on the beach once so I don’t think corrosion played a part in this one. This seems like a bad casting or just a material defect to me that finally gave up the ghost

Put some bilstein 4600s on the truck today since I’m taking the truck on a trip in the next few weeks, I decided to go this route and deal with rebuilding them when I get back.

here’s a comparison of the toyota bilstein vs the 4600

Truck was squatting like a dog after reinstalling the camper, so I threw on my set of springs with a 1.5” aal on after I got home today from work. Sits much better now, but still a little low in the back

Thank you sir, this is at home. Really want to get away for a few days, just need to get past the tax deadline before I can. Nearly there though

Awesome! I was talking to someone about going to big bend just a couple days ago. Definitely want to try and make it out there at some point. How long were y’all out there?

4 nights. Stayed in a Dome, at a place called Double Moon Ranch. It is in Terlingua. About 20 miles from a center point to the State Park, and the National Park. The hiking, scenery, history, and grandeur was well worth it. In the Old Mining Town/"Ghost Town" then have quite a lot of activities. River rafting, Jeep rentals for off road trails, horse back riding, etc. We stuck with plenty of hiking.
