The facts are that the stock was already dropping and continued dropping at the same rate afterwards. The announcement of Amazon having another deal on the table did not change that.

And it plunged 10% in the two days prior to that and 8% in the two subsequent days. In other words, a continuation of the slide downwards over the previous month that continued for several more months.

Barron's, Forbes, CNBC, etc... - Amazon deal with Stellantis drops Rivian stock.

Tacoma World's Brightest - Nope, we know better, never mattered.

You never answered why you feel like Mercedes is going to walk away from their deal with Rivian.

It did drop, no one denies that, just like it was before and like it continued to do so afterwards. Writing an article the day of or day after you wouldn’t be wrong saying it dropped because of that. Looking at it after the fact the rate of change was really not affected therefore the likely cause was not Amazon buying someone else’s vans also.

    Because they don’t play nice.

Once they get what they want, they’ll drop them.

Daimler/ Benz has partnered with like five or six different companies in the US since the 1980s.

My wife’s father worked for Chrysler during the original Daimler merger. They also partnered with Freightliner to sell their sprinter vans as kits to dodge the chicken tax. I would be very leery about partnering with them. They take what they want and then they move on.

For a new company like Rivian that might not be the worst thing. It gives them more time and money to work through production processes and quality and potentially access to the European market.

They should be compared, it just has a different power train, like comparing gas to diesel to propane to natural gas to alcohol. Each power source is going to give you different results. All use stored solar energy.

I would compare it more to a half ton truck than a Tacoma, since the payload/towing capacities are about the same. Only advantage I see with the Rivian is that it is super fast, though not really practical for street use. Can only go fast as the law allows. Of course we live in the age of the constant dick measuring contest with hp/tq numbers, even though it mostly not needed.

For $100K the range on them is rather pathetic, my buddies F150 has a 36 gallon tank, fetches 20 mpg…that is 720 miles. EV companies will try to convince you that stopping a bunch to sip quad long shot grande in a venti cup half calf double cupped no sleeve salted caramel mocha latte with 2 pumps of vanilla substitute 2 pumps of white chocolate mocha for mocha and substitute 2 pumps of hazelnut for toffee nut half whole milk and half breve with no whipped cream extra hot extra foam extra caramel drizzle extra salt add a scoop of vanilla bean powder with light ice well stirred…is a good thing, and relaxing, but maybe for some of us the driving part is the relaxing part and the stopping drives us fucking nuts. :)

The better the range, the less infrastructure you need. Would like to think 1000 miles would be a perfect, even for commuting. I would only have to charge every 5 weeks.

Daimler-Benz owns Freightliner. To be more precise, Freightliner is their domestic truck brand. Since 1981, long before any Sprinter re-badging.

I don't think you are wrong, and I'm not sure if there is a disagreement among anyvof these statements regarding Sprinter vans.

I think Freightliner was the intial brand that sold MBZ Sprinters in the US. There may have been MBZ Sprinters sold at the sametime, but I don't know if you could by them from MBZ dealers at that time. Dodge also sold rebranded Sprinters, but I think those were actually rebranded Freightliner Sprinters, and not MBZ. I believe that was before Dodge was rebranded as RAM during the Daimler days.

    I could be wrong.

When you take delivery of a Rivian does the company set you up with a YouTube channel so you can vlog about all the boring things you do with your truck?

My brother in law got screwed out of his. Might be a R1T thing only.

He also didn’t get the little Pelican case for his keys.

When battery capacity and range start to improve in EV's the MPGe will be higher than any petrol out there. As they are now

    Here's Rivians MPGe.
