Oh that is just marketing bullshit. In current reality it is dismal for what you pay for.

You can run out today, and buy a 1/2 ton for 50% less with a 36 gallon tank, and get 2.25 times the range.

Yes, but they specifically started selling kits in the US because they were coming into the Van market and at the time Mercedes-Benz dealerships could not deal with commercial sales and service.

They were dumping the sprinter market onto freightliner dealers because they didn’t want to bother their luxury car dealerships with fixing plumber vans.

Which is a position they eventually reversed.

But you can still spend over 50% less what you spent in petrol to go the same mileage in an EV.

Cost per mile would be a better equivalency to use. For example, my TRX is $0.40/mile, my ‘18 2500HD was $0.15/mile, my ‘11 Tacoma was $0.23/mile, ‘21 Tacoma was $0.23/mile, and a Rivian charged at my home electric rates is $0.06/mile or charged at an EA charger $0.15/mile.

When is that going to happen? There is the possibility that battery technology never advances that much from where it is now.

The only advantage I think electric has is over the emissions system that diesel vehicles require. That emissions equipment could be removed from diesel engines, since that is the most common problem for modern diesel engines, if it wasn't mandatory.

No, that’s really not a possibility.

I mean the people who claim that in the future we will have batteries weighing 200 pounds that will have the capacity of batteries currently weighing 1500 pounds are the same ones saying that internal combustion technology will no longer advance beyond its current point.

Every single politician who has signed the pledge to stop the sales of internal combustion vehicles by 2035, for example.

How much better is a AA battery than one from 50 years ago?

I doubt if dry cell battery technology can advance past where it is today.

Good news then. Lighter batteries, more range, and faster charging times. Sounds like a win win.

I"m telling you, he will have you going in circles and do research for him/it, all day when he's here just to troll this thread on his own admission.

We don’t have the generation capacity, transmission capacity, storage capacity, and the batteries aren’t where we want them to be, but they will be magically in 2035. Trust us.

A new lithium AA is about 30% lighter, 30% more capacity, has better discharge and recharge profiles, lasts for about ten years longer sitting on the shelf holding a charge, works better in cold temperatures, and can handle about 10 times as many discharge cycles before failing. In other words, a whole lot has improved.

$50K buys a shit ton of fuel, enough for 12.5-14 years for me, I am not getting younger…that is a hell of long time to pay for itself. Plus stopping that much and waiting to charge would be fucking annoying. I work for 3 weeks, then a week off to take trips. I would blow a gasket waiting on charging. All the while thinking I paid $100K for this fucking thing!?

Remember machines are supposed to make our lives easier, the out going tech needs to be replaced with something better.

You guys can keep on trying to sell it, but they have a long way to go.

I can predict the future as well as you can. Nothing wrong with being optimistic. Toyota is putting solid state batteries in it's upcoming PHEV and HEV's. Infrastructure is being updated. Can't stop now.

I never said they are perfect and they have a long way to go. I will wait to buy an EV and it will most likely will be a Toyota EV. Once charging and range are to my liking I will buy one. And guess what, you don't have to buy one if you don't like the charge time. Pretty easy solution to your charge rage.
