TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Any recommendations on a LTR kit for the Tundra? I'm piecing together a custom fit kit. Bought the ZZP High Output Intercooler pump already, DW 450 fuel pump, and Figs intercooler res tank. Next on list is 650 fuel injectors and smaller s/c pulley

No flex logic in this ECU unfortunately. Not enough fuel in the stock setup to support it even if it existed. But I'll be working on that.

 

I don't know, but I bet ProSpeed might have something. I'm sure you could get something done up if you can get some measurements to see what fits in the area you have available.

Well remember the heat exchanger goes in different on the gen 3s vs. the gen 2s. I would imagine measurements are different as well and larger on the gen 3s for better cooling efficiency.

I would imagine HPFP's are costly on those trucks. Let alone an aftermarket version of those existing with more fuel volume capabilities even existing yet. What's the max IPW MS's you guys are capable of pushing on the third gens?

I would imagine if you guys choose and venture into modding to run E at any point a cams swap would be in order with a 30-40% lobe. Maybe even larger injectors based on what sort of duty those see in stock config. I'm sure the low side may be an issue as well based on how bad they were right out of the box initially unless they fixed that and put in a reliable well built unit in those modules but I doubt it. I currently run E60, but will eventually have to swap cam if I want to run full E. From what I understand though, the benefits of corn runs out after E50- E60 anyways and fuel mileage tanks even further the more pure of standard petrol the ethanol is.

 

Any tips or suggestions for installing the oversized TB and 76 adapters besides porting it a bit? I likely will just start with it as is but I may go the distance.

@JustDSM do we need to adjust for this in the tune? I do owe you some updated logs to see about a few things. I just grabbed the set from the guy selling the S/C.

 

An adapter and cut the intake tube and jb weld it. That's what @Torspd and I did on mine.

 

Nothing required tune wise. But lets take a look at those logs. Send me an email and chat with me about what you've got going on.

 

yah, I picked up the TB and URD Adapter. What did you guys do to cut and weld it? Got a link to a post? I am running the TRD one, and I never cut it, so I can prob cut it some.

I know some guys went/prefer the form-a-gasket to seal, but I went with the paper gasket material route. Trace and cut out a few gaskets before starting install.

 

Will do. I was putting it off hoping to get some other things taken care of that may help. (ie: fuel pump)

i didnt cut my intake tube. sure fits tight though. i just did a little port match work. paper gasket between them.

 

When folks are doing the port matching mainly grinning a bit sot hat the TB and Blower blend better I assume?

 

yes. its self explanitory when you put things together. you can see what could be done if you choose.

 

makes sense figured that was the case. What if any real benefits have people seen by adding it? for the price I figured why not.

 

When I took the snout off my blower.

 

there is a benefit, flow. just that little move with everything helps. no one mod on these motors makes them amazing. but two dozen done correctly can add up to a notable increase.

 

I cut mine and got a straight Si coupler from siliconeintakes.com.

Tundra tube for TRD intake is a little wider but you’ll need a corresponding MAF. I made a harness so it’s just plug n play when I remove for smog. (Can take pic later if needed)

 

It sure does. Another fun metric. It also is a great motivator.
