I was actively sipping that KoolAid this morning haha. I found a local shop that stocks their mortar

 

So today was a plumbing day. I disconnected the hose from the front spigot and it was just a constant drip. Instead of just cutting off the water and worrying about it in the Spring I decided to do it now. Now this shoulda been a relatively easy swap, but having two sources of water and both going to it with valves everywhere, it was a hot mess. I decided to cut all that out and start from scratch.

Here's kind of a look what the mess of valves and pipes. All the stuff to the right.



So, both water sources cut off, all of it went outta there!



Capped off a feed from the well that was going to all that mess. It was the feed going to the boiler for hot water that I no longer use. Had an interesting mix of valves too as I could feed the cistern into the hot water if I wanted to. All cut out.



Unfortunately the well to spigot bypass I had to use a Sharkbite cap. Just no room in there to do what I wanted to do. It's all gonna get cut out one day to be replaced with 3/4 Pex anyways.



Because of how tight it was I could not get my mini copper cutters in there to remove the copper out of the back of the sill-cock. So I pushed it as far as I could outside and just cut it in half. Put the new one on the outside.



So in my haste I forgot to wrap tape on the threads before putting it in the hole. I use tape and dope, but due to room I just used a shittonne of dope. This is the small opening I had. Also where the oil tank sits so I had to straddle the damn tank like you're riding a Bull



Lines connected and ready to go!





Had issues with the brass Pex adapter soldering so I just soldered on a copper male adapter onto the old copper and used a Pex female to adapt it to the pex.


While the water was off I did replace the crusty washing machine valves out to 1/4 turn ones.

So, that's it for now. I'm not a plumber by any means, but I think I was able to clean it up a whole lot better than it was.

 

IMHO , for what you might save on a single bathroom install , we just follow their product recommendations

 

Well when I first started this project, I liked their product and wanted to use it. I saw most of their stuff is available at the Home Depot just down the road which was nice but then learned after the fact I can’t get the mortar from HD. I priced it online and shipping was insane because of weight. I did find a flooring place local that sticks their ALL SET Mortar so I’ll use that i think.

Let’s be honest, their stuffs not cheap at all. I’m into this system already so I’m going to use it and I’m in agreement; why skip out on the specific mortar for a nominal savings. The warranty matters to me god forbid I have to use it.

Finished up the front of the house today. Cut back all what I wanted to cut back. Also there was a buildup of mulch against the brick, so I shoveled it out and spread it around.





My burn pile has been going before 12pm

 

I'm surprised that you didn't join in with the talk about caulk.

He interrupted broken caulk talk to show us his trimmed bush. The house definitely looks bigger now.

 

I've heard trimming your bush makes the house appear bigger. Like an optical illusion of sorts.
