Friend of mine dropped the hammer on a loaded .357 in his house and thought he could stop the bullet with his hand.....he made his daughter clean the blood up before she carried him to the hospital so his wife wouldn't panic when she came home

I might as well post something up. I work in/manage a shop where we make anchor bolts for all sorts of projects in the Southwest.

 

What size are those bolts?

 

I'm thankful and blessed to say I've never had a negligent discharge.

 

My dad and I were going out of town and my mom wanted to keep a single six I had. I was showing her how to use it and the hammer slipped out from my thumb. She was standing right in front of me.

The .308 was a lever action Browning and the hammer was hard to let down when it had one in the chamber. It didn't have a safety either. I loaded it to go hunting the next day and went to let the hammer down and it slipped. Blew a hole in my bed

 

These are 3" x 78" long each full assembly of 10 bolts and anchor plates weighs roughly 2400#s

 

I've always looked at signs and post with anchor bolts and wondered how they held them up in the wind, now I know

 

I had my first negligent discharge last year. I was messing around at my hunting lease shooting my wife’s semiauto 22 when it jammed. Cleared the jam and released the blot and BAM!!!! Round went off. For some idiotic reason I had my finger holding down the trigger when I released the bolt. Thankfully no one was hut except my ego and it was a strong reminder on gun safety

 

These are specifically for the Chargers new stadium SoFi, the road signage and lighting are typically sets of four bolts and a lot smaller but the same idea. Plate washers or "j" hooks at the bottom for concrete and a top template to hold it all together till they are ready to install the poles.

I've never had one inside the house.

Most recent "incident" was two seasons ago. I shot a small buck with my crossbow. I reloaded and went back to the truck to wait for a while before checking for blood. When I got to the truck I went to decock the crossbow by holding the string back by hand and pulling the trigger. In my excitement, I forgot to take the arrow out and had the broad head ½" into my boot. My "terrified" strength saved me that day.
