There are no new or used 3rd Gen access cabs with the options I want anywhere in the country, and people want more money for less vehicle. It's kinda like that car show at Cactus Grill I went to back in August...

    "That'll be forty dollars."

    "Forty dollars? For spectators?"

    "It's for cHaRiTy."

    Yeah...

    :brianr:

    I left.

"Almost thirty grand for a used Corolla LE?"

"Used cars are in high demand and short supply."

"But this exact car goes for less than twenty-four thousand brand new."

    "It's a CoRoLla!"

    Again...

My uncle changes vehicles more often than some people change their underwear. The current record for him would probably be the Ford Ranger XLT that he bought brand new in 1994 and had until 2002. He bought a low-mileage 2010 Ford Mustang GT in 2020 or 2021 that he didn't even have for a year. He bought the 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport in 2019 and had it for a little over three years, then recently traded it for a Mini Countryman. He has a new Ford Maverick on order, and he plans on paying cash, but the dealer keeps giving him the runaround on when the Maverick will be built and he's thinking of cancelling the order. In the meantime, he bought a he 2003 Mazda B2300 with only 23K miles for $6,000 to use for truck duties.

Those B series were pretty good trucks.
If I were your uncle I’d run it until it dies and save (more) money and buy a Ridgeline instead of a Maverick. :D

My uncle prefers smaller trucks and actually thinks the Ridgeline is too big, though he still thinks they are good vehicles; I might make an offer on the Mazda when he decides to sell it though. It's a 5-speed and it's got A/C!

My big concern nowadays is how quickly some people are willing to escalate a bad situation into a potentially life threatening one. Road rage seems to happen to some folks way too fast. I've heard enough stories of idiots pulling weapons over issues that barely merit getting upset over. I consider myself pretty mellow and it takes a fair amount to really get me upset. Far easier and safer to walk away or drive away from a situation where someone is getting that worked up.

    Nice. With only 23k?
Buy it and save up some money for a year or two and then buy the truck you want.

One of my autism-related issues is that I tend to tailgate people without realizing it, and it took a couple times being road raged at to realize it. One time in Doylestown in either 2021 or 2022, I was on a Main Street where the posted speed limit is 25 MPH. This guy in a 1997-2002ish Ford F-150 was in front of me. All of sudden, the F150 stopped in the middle of the road without putting on a signal.

I waited 10 seconds and beeped, and got nothing, so I tried to drive around him. He accelerated and blocked my path, then stopped again just up the hill and put on his signal to go turn into the CVS parking lot and started pointing out the window like he wanted me to follow him.

There was nobody coming from the opposing lane, so he was needlessly blocking traffic at this point. Still not entire sure what his intentions were, I started beeping again. I believe he might have flipped me off or just given me a "What?" gesture. At this point, still unsure of what I'd done to piss him off, I saw an opening to the right of the rager in the F150 and went for it. He actually tried to stop me from passing him on the right, but I was able to squeeze through. He turned into the CVS and I kept going; I realized that I been following him a bit closely only after reviewing the dashcam footage later that night.

I shouldn't have been following as closely as I was, but there was still no excuse for his behavior.

At least you realize what you had done.

And good choice in not following him in to the parking lot.
