I think it's going to be tough for Toyota to compete as well. Toyota usually does their own thing for reasons, but if the gulf between Toyota and what Ford and GM do is too wide, it might cost them. I'm not exactly eager to buy a GM truck, but if Toyota is so far down on power, I might have to bite the bullet.

Or just go full-size. Which still wouldn't be a Toyota lol.

It was, I'm sure the tacoma will have a hybrid max with electric motors in higher trim levels, similar to what they did with the new tundra.

I don't care what anyone says, the current Ranger is a decent little truck. And if you read the reviews overseas for the next gen Ranger, Toyota had better up their game. If I had to bet on it today, my money is on replacing my '23 Tacoma with the next gen Ranger.

I don't like the current Ranger, but am looking forward to the next one. Ranger Raptor is beyond where I want to go pricewise, but it should be awesome nonetheless.

If its anything like the changes from previous Taco generations. It will have 8 more horsepower, get 1 mile to the gallon better mpg, but cost 25% more....

Just being realistic. I've owned every generation of taco. Early G2 was the best so far.

What makes earlier gen 2 models better than later gen 2 models?

07-09 Engines were tuned for premium, 10+ were for regular.

    Simplicity and less emissions control.
But to be honest, the 2012’ model is the “problem child”. 2009-2015 are just as reliable. Just not the 2012.

If that’s the case, I haven’t been running the right gas in mine. E/10 87 always.

Humm, wonder what it would do with 93?

You can also do 85 at the end of the day the engine will compensate and pull timing.

Altitude dependent as well; while an AKI rating of 85 may well work in Utah, I seriously doubt it'll work out well down near sea level.

What happened at the factory to cause the 2012 to be a lemon, I wonder?
