That’s sad to hear about your pup…but agreed you have to find the positive to get through a situation like that. I’ve learned that injuries are just as difficult mentally/emotionally as they are physically.

I’ve gotten so much support here, and especially getting to ride with you my first time out meant a lot. I made sure to tell my wife I was going with a very experienced friend and that helped put her at ease. I think in general fellow motorcyclists understand the passion, it’s the non-riders that usually don’t get it.

And yes why didn’t we ask for a test drive?? The sales guy was nearly running out to start it for us haha

just a couple of things tbh
yuuup had to find something positive about this year haha its been a lot of things that have happened in a short time frame haha
ya you really do have to find the slight positive there is in a situation like that so you dont get depressed and sulk so ya 2 and a half months off work sucked but was nice to spend with her and i meet a lot of new online and a few in-person friends during that time so overall not to bad id say

that second part big time just about everyone i know that rides has had an accident not always serious but sometimes yes it was. but most want to get back out and ride after it and the ones that never have ridden dont ever seem to understand that part. everyone i know that doesnt ride and knows me calls it stubbornness and stupidity :notsure:

honestly it is no more crazy than getting back in a car after an accident

your wreck was rough, i would hope i can rebound and get back on a bike like you have done so far!!!

either way I am pretty sure i will be an old man tinkering with bikes in the garage long after i can physically ride

I think it's a little more crazy, for the simple fact that riding is inherently more dangerous than driving. And I've been in enough wrecks (auto and bike) to know! :anonymous:

Take even modest care of your strength and health and you might be surprised! There are quite a few old codgers over on motorcycleforum.com who are deep into their 70's and still plugging along!

Thanks man when I think back to how bad of shape I was in at the hospital it was hard to imagine being physically able to ride again. But once getting through the worst of it I knew I’d get back on. Kind of amazed at the progress as well honestly.

Collided with a VW Tiguan that pulled out in front of me at an intersection at the last second. I had the right of way and the 18 year old driver had a stop sign. Totaled my FZ-09 that I had just bought a few months prior. Broke my leg, shoulder, both thumbs, and a dislocated elbow. Most difficult experience of my life. But thankful because I know it could have been a much worse outcome. I’m still doing physical therapy but mostly back to normal

Very cool, not that many care but that’s a very unusual one. The front end is probably from a Norton?? The forks/wheel/fender is absolutely off something different. I’ve never seen a bike pedal on the kickstarter and can only imagine that gets in the way.

also interesting is it saying it’s a “1952” the rear frame and timing caver that is embossed “HRD” is from a series B that ended in 1950 as far as factory records are concerned.the shifter cover and gear lever are also series B. The HRD embossing was still found on some series C machines but there are also a period of blank unmarked covers and caps before they switched the tooling to say “Vincent”

You know them well! I had barely heard of Vincent until you started posting yours

Lots of bones connecting in that area, I hear it’s tough to get motion back

I think it was a jam. We basically tboned someone at ~25. Rav4 to scion tC. I think it was from holding the steering wheel

That picture made me laugh. My first bike was a Suzuki C50 which was also sold as the Volusia before they introduced fuel injection. I was on a Volusia forum that had a ton of members in central Florida and one of the guys I rode with regularly went by Sharkbait.

I’ve been getting odds and ends removed/ replaced. I still need to pull the front wheel to get the last brackets for the rotor cover off. 284DEF9D-2BB4-46FD-8391-571BD2AAF1A7.jpg

You should see the ages of a lot of the riders on the Iron Butt forums! One guy that I know personally is 76 years old currently and has ridden the Iron Butt Rally 3 times so far with plans for at least 2 more. His current plans calls for him to ride it again in 2023 teamed up with his daughter, on her own bike, and granddaughter riding as passenger for her mom. If they can pull it off they could become the first 3 generation family to complete the Iron Butt Rally. He also wants to compete again in 2025 and would finish the event at 80 years old making him the oldest finisher on record. I think he was 72 when he and his old Navy buddy flew to South America and rode to the southern most point of South America. I joke with him every time I see him that I want to be like him when I grow up.

One of the most knowledgeable people on the FJR forums is a 76 year old from Canada who can out ride me and I'm not ashamed to say it.
