    i don't camp.

i park a trailer on a flattened gravel strip, light a fire in an old wheel, park a chair near the lit fire, throw peanut shells at the lit fire, then talk with friends around the lit fire until it either goes out, or we fall asleep around it.

i believe the cityfolk call that 'overlanding'. the countryfolk call that 'home'. i just call it a good time.

Did you see the picture with two Porsches with rooftop tents parked at a cabin? Why? Why not put a tent on a Miata next? Talk about the wrong tool for the job. Does this guy use a hammer as a screwdriver?

Obviously tires were changed by an Indie shop. A certified Porsche mechanic will time the wheels so when you stop all the emblems are upright. This of course puts the valve stems in the primary location for easy airing up. Only Porsche offers this feature.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

you could always just sleep in a rocket box on top. Kinda like a hard shell one person tent.
    Maybe just snorkel it :headbang:

It's putting a roof top tent on your vehicle because Instagram told you to.

Exactly - perhaps that there is a common thread - RRT on a 911 and the center caps not pointed at the valve stem (there are whole threads about this on certain forums)

Must be a must-have for Wild Camping trend. Each to their own for individuality, a RTT on a Miata would actually be neat in a weird kind of way.

    oops. Never mind.

Well it's a 996, what do you expect? Probably bought it with a 84 month loan at 17% interest, thinking he can afford it because he can make the monthly payments, and hasn't realized that a brake job will cost $1000 to do it right.

    Source: former 996 owner.

I may catch some heat for this but I do think using the word 'mod' is in the same camp of using a big word for something sinple (no pun intended). As is paint correction vs. polishing. Sounds much more sophisticated to mod your truck, conplete a paint correction and then go overlanding vs. adding some accessories, polishing the paint, and going car camping.

Those classic spare tires. I guess you mounted the tire right to wheel when you got a flat back. That must of been an adventure itself.

I was just looking more at these pics the axe and how the camp kitchen was a couple of bowls behind this little gate. Soft topper on the truck. Two spares. Driving on that suspension must’ve been an adventure. Most everything was tied on somehow with some string.

What is Overlanding? The act of traveling over land. Nothing more. What most think it is, is Capitalism at work, a trend, a fad, a trendy phrase for car camping, a description of people wanting to keep up with the Joneses
