It’s hard to predict the future running cost of gasoline vehicles due to skyrocketing gas prices. I paid under $6 per gallon at Costco this morning but many local stations are over $7. And diesel has dropped below gasoline at most places, but that’s transitory and the trend is more steeply upward than I can remember. And I started driving when gas was about $0.35 a gallon. Of course, electricity costs go up too, but at a slower rate with more advance notice plus opportunities with home solar.

your dollar was worth more when gas was .35 cents a gallon. when demand for electricity goes up so will the price to charge an electric vehicle. you're robbing peter to pay paul.

Energy producers have already said to expect electricity shortages in the not to distant future.

and the price per Kilowatt will skyrocket faster than gas prices

The amount of stuff that runs on electricity far out weighs the amount of things that run on gasoline.

Everything that is powered by electricity is better when it uses less electricity, all electical devices are marketed as being more efficient as to use less energy to power them. Which makes gas powered equipment, and vehicles more efficient than their electric counter parts. The proof is gas poered vehicles get batter range than electric, and gas pwered equipment and tools, have a longer run time than battery power.

The 5.7 Tundra is more efficient than a Nissan Leaf. The Tundra gets a range of 300+ miles on a single tank a gas. The Leaf gets a range of 212 miles on a single charge.

$7 a gallon is nuts. Why is CA twice as high as the rest of the country?

So a gif is a better response than a simple explanation that would prove an electic motor is more effecient than a gas engine?

How many kilowatts does an electric motor consume?

Yes, it was better because what you posted was complete nonsense. Consumption of electricity has absolutely nothing to do with efficiency. A Tundra is nowhere near as efficient as a Leaf.

Is that a rhetorical question? :p

Oregon wasn’t too far behind, paid $6.03 for 92 in a couple spots. It was generally $5.45-5.75 for hi-test.

This should be easy to debunk.

Comparing a 2022 Ford F150 5.0 SuperCrew 145" WB 4x4 to a Ford F-150 Lighting, all Lightnings have the same motor. The gas truck is more effecient and consumes less energy to move the same distance.

Show me how that is incorrect.

Range and efficiency are two different things.

My buddies F150 averages 19-20 mpg, has a range of 720 miles.

While my Tacoma fetches 21-22 mpg, yet only has a range of 400 miles.

    What is the difference?

My supercharged Tacoma is way more “efficient” because I got the LRA 33 gallon tank.

Where do we begin? But I’ll try. A gasoline engine converts about 30-35% of the energy it uses into forward motion. The rest is lost to heat going out the exhaust, into the coolant and into the air, friction of the pistons going up and down, valve train, etc etc. electric motors are far more efficient in that sense, at around 80 to 90+%. Efficiency is the ratio of energy doing useful work to the energy consumed. Now of course the energy stored in the battery of an electric vehicle doesn’t come for free, but most large utility power plants and transmission line systems are far more efficient at generating power than gasoline engines. And solar, hydro, and wind are pretty good about low emissions too.

You need to do some research into what energy is and how it works. Range in miles has nearly nothing to do with any of it.

I hear about range, and battery size all the time when it comes to various EVs. I can't find a single source on how much energy any EV's motor, or motors consume.

It’s been posted and discussed on numerous occasions in this thread. A simple google search will give you the kWh per mile usage of all EVs.
