I wish, stuff is sold out within minutes of the trucks showing up. With labor shortages the trucks have been late so people are just waiting at the stores for hours, calling buddies in the meantime. It’s so bad anymore

 

That sounds awful, takes all the fun out of it. I much prefer the quiet stroll through the stores here and there, coming across a treat now and then. Lines and mad rush and stress…no thanks.

Well, apparently it is. The SR label is such a dark green that I thought they both had a green label.

As you can tell I’ve never laid my hands on one.

 

Ok...so, I have a question for the braintrust. I like rye (not as much as bourbon, but I like it) and some of the folks that come over to the house like it also. My question is...what is a good, easily accessible, rye. For reference, I and my guests, really like Sazerac, but it's not easy to get around here. Is there anything comparable, accessible, and cheap?

I can say when I went through El Paso a couple years ago, the special reserve was everywhere. I was searching for antique 107 with no luck, but one store had one 12, which I immediately bought for $35. One of the few times driving around a city to multiple liquor stores paid off haha.
Also, definitely black.

 

this one is good for a good price

 

I used to dig Bulleit Rye, but it's pretty basic and for a similar price OF Rye is 100 proof of tastiness. Rittenhouse Rye is also pretty good at 100 proof and it's cheaper to boot. If you're looking for higher proof rye it's tough to beat WT RB Rye or KC SB Rye for both price and availability.

 

Pikesville 110.

 

Michter’s Single Barrel Rye is hands down my favorite. Not too bad at $44 a bottle.
