    Agree!

My old 1960 Wayne chugs along quietly at 378 rpm, you can have a conversation standing by it.

I have a vertical belt driven 60 gal Iron Horse or something from tsc. It was too loud so I built an insulated phone booth sized room for it, works great.

If I had the money I’d get one of these rotary screws compressors.

Everything about this post is spot on .

I would like to add, look for a 1600 rpm motor belt driving a 2 stage compressor . The noise factor is 2/3 less.

As listed below, no oil less compressor will be quiet...unless they put out much less cfm. You need 14 cfm to run a plasma table.

More if you plan on blasting more than 20 minutes at a time.

You will need to deal with moisture. All compressors create water and it kills your plasma tips...as well makes blasting a headache .

Small rotary compressors are a double edged sword. For something like a busy body shop that genuinely needs the volume they can be a good choice.

If the volume isn't really required however the maintenance & utility costs are much higher than a reciprocating unit.

Rotory screw units are really not beneficial to a single person shop.

They have little storage capacity and adding a second receiver (tank) makes no sense. They are designed to run constant. They unload when no one is using air, so the motor spins doing no work. I'm not paying to run a 7 HP motor making no air. If you hook it to a regulator, you are paying more for the "inrush voltage" to start the motor. Again, more $.

Reciprocal, low rpm, 2 stage units tick all the boxes.

For years Harbor Freight offered a refrigerated air dryer that had thousands of good reviews, people on forums raved about how good and how cheap it was.
I see they must have changed it, the new model only has 167 reviews.

I guess while I’m in recovery mode I can work on small stuff. Need to replace this broken limit switch.

Hunting saturday come hell or high water. More than likely just high water.
Picked up a new hunting rifle, a Mossberg Patriot a bolt gun in .308. Fluted barrel, done up pretty nice, composite stock. Most importantly its light enough to climb with. I'm still planning on building an Ar-10, but I needed something right now. My Remington R700 in .223 lacks dropping power and my ol girl Winchester Model 100 in .308 has been giving me trouble all summer as I've been sighting in a scope. I think the magazine spring is toast as I've been having feed issues. 60 year old mags for this rifle are damn near impossible to find too.

Have any idea of future Air Needs I went with a 2 stage Big Red from Snap On

looking back maybe a smaller Rotary would have worked better.
