You have any brand recommendation, or just any hardware store type cheap pads work fine?

 

And a back surgery

 

I use these but any knee pads that you are comfortable with should work. But if you are a brand name person Tethrd has some knee pads

They would have to be very ambitious to steal that . There’s really no way for anyone to get to it without going through a lot of private property. We all know each other on adjoining properties.

 

Knee pads definitely help if you're gonna be sitting for longer than an hour. Foot stand would be nice too, but you can use your climbing steps to rest your feet on if you don't want to carry too many things. Personally, I use a kid's swing seat attached to ropes to climb trees and then use that swing seat to rest my feet on when I'm at hunting height.

 

I just looked up hunting saddles, that does not look comfortable at all to me. Wouldn't it limit your shooting range as well?

 

Man that is ruff. In NY we are in bow now but about to get into crossbow season.

 

The exact opposite actually. Shooting range is nearly 360 degrees in a saddle. As for comfort, thats always gonna be subjective. Mines extremely comfortable to me (minus needing to get some knee pads for when I sit), but its a different type of comfortable. If I'm gonna be doing a morning sit, afternoon sit, or both with a lunch break in between, I like the saddle. If I'm gonna spend 5AM-7PM in the tree, I want my climber lol.

Its a whole fad the past couple years though, and some people live and die by it, thinking saddle hunters are better than everyone. I'd like to think I'm smart enough to realize it excels in some areas, while other setups excel in other areas. Different tools for different jobs is the way I see it. I like leaving the truck packed with saddle, climber, and ground blind all season, and grabbing the right tool for the right day whenever I get there.

 

Too many ropes and bull crap involved in saddle hunting . I would rather be sitting

Rifle in Pennsylvania where Ihunt is not open that I know of .

 

It's really woodsy where I hunt so i'd be lucky to get a clear 100yd shot, so the saddle works out really well. Plus it's easy to maneuver around since it's a single rope at the top connecting you to the tree. As far as comfort, I like it since it basically hugs your butt lol! I also have a small strap attachment that goes around my back so I can lean back if I get tired.
