As stated, my truck jerks violently when shifting gears, more in first but in other gears too. Also sometimes in first it skips 2 or 3 times till I let off the gas. I felt the problem occasionaly earlier in the week but today it is constant. Any suggestions. I am taking it in tommorrow but want some ideas so I dont get raped

ask about the transmission TSB. It changes shifting qualities in the auto trans and should help with your problem

Is the TSB for only 6 speeds?
Edit: Sorry, I see you guys are talking about automatics.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Seeing how this truck is six years old and the problem just arose, I doubt it has to do with the TSB. Almost sounds like a u-joint

I haven't heard of any tsb or problems with the 6-speed.

throw out bearing TSB for the 6-speeds

OP, are you a prerunner or 4wd? if 4wd and the u-joints havent been lubed like they should, this might pop the issue that someone saif before. if you are a prerunner, same issue, but they are not greasable on yours.

Hmm strange problem. U joints you think eh?

I would think a servo or valve body junk.

There's a TSB on the throwout? Oh yea. Why did they publish that? "customer complains of throwout bearing noise, replace throwout." THanks Toyota, i'm sure your technicians couldn't swing that logic jump without a special bulletin.

well took it in, it is the rear diff. guy said it keeps tring to lock up while driving. The took the diff apart and one of gears is missing 4 teeth. WTF would cause that. I dont wheel, I drive conservably in the truck. Any suggestions
